Post Entering horses (Newbie Q)
While still enjoying the "Newbie Q" induced recollection of "Susie Q", I have a question, in fact my first. So, hello forum, this isn't my first SO game, but it has been an age since my last, and I am trying to get a handle on some details. I have commenced a Flat Season, UK, without delaying the start, and am wondering if there is some magical route to be able to enter my horses in races. I have managed to get three, of my five, to race, but two of them have gone more than a month without my being able to enter them in a single race. Is this normal, one is a 2 y.o., so I am thinking that a maiden for 2 yo(+) should be eligible, at a similar distance, but while it seems as though there are such races occurring, they are not shown when I select the "enter your horse in a race" button.
Second question, I have read the instructions, scoured the forums, but haven't seen an "idiot's playthrough", yet. Perhaps it would be more kindly named, but a step by step guide to the first two to three months would be interesting (from said idiot's perspective, at least.)
Once again, greetings all,
tilt

Early on there won't really be 2yo races. During July onwards the 2yo races really start to get going with more regular handicaps and maiden races over varying distances. There are only two 2+ races and they are both group 1 races, the Nunthorpe and the Prix de L'Abbaye. So you'll have to wait a while with your 2yo.

Same with the 3yo really if you're starting in January, especially if you have one that wants more than a mile. You'll have to wait for March/April until there are more varied races.

If you want to get through the early months a bit quicker I'd recommend buying a 4yo+ sprinter who can be entered in lots of races until more varied races come up for your younger horses.

Thank you, Supercat. That puts my mind at ease. Was afraid I was missing something obvious. Thankfully, of the horses I started with, plus one I acquired early on, three of them have been racing for me. Now, at least, I can proceed without being over-anxious. Thanks again!
