Post Re: All Weather Championship Season Two
This is a great series but I think we need to expand it. I don't know if it's possible because of Tom and that but I've done some research and I think we need more 0-100 or 0-90 h'caps, I think about three more of these a week minimum.

I looked through the data and it was very revelling. This is the Flat.

The first season the Top 5 Trainers won 50% of the races and in the last season it was also 50%.

The first season the Top 10 Trainers won on average 24.7 races and all the other trainers won on average 4.5 races each
The last season the figures were 28.6 and 6.

I think it's stacked to much to the better trainer's and that's why we need more races for the trainers outside the top ten.

I think it's vital we get the first season right because it sets a tone for all the other season's. It also vital that every trainer who enters feels like they have a chance to win some races on the flat. If trainers enter the season and feel's it's not for them then leave that's one thing but if trainers feel like they haven't a chance and give up and that's bad and not good for the league. You only have a good league if u have a healthy top end and a healthy bottom end, it shouldn't just be about who's best. We need to take everyone along for the ride.

Just my rambling thoughts.

Post Re: All Weather Championship Season Two
In Season 1 56 Trainers i believe the there wasn't so many races Andy had 81 Winners but still finished
second to matt who only had 21 due to prize Money i reckon we should be doing what the Mac said top Trainer
should be by winners not prize money also i think alot of traines looking at it give up really early on 49 on
only had 11 runners you will have to discard any one who left before end of season i would us Jupiterjimmy
Peter Cahill has a cut off and get stats from there upwards John.

Season 2 just 33 Trainers Again Steve Roe has more winners 48 Than any one else a cut from andys 81 in season 1 and again Matt
took the trainers Championship on prize Money with just 33 winners again i would discard the bottom 3 in has 11 runners is not
a full season and give up within weeks of the start and only 4 didn't win a race so we can say just 1 has i would discard 3 on making
the spread.

Season 3 New Schedule

35 Trainers Jamie won the title with 69 winners and most Prize Money so you can't complain about that even though
the AW Championship was put in the Schedule for the lesser trainers it looks like you could have a point i was surprised
to see Cath at the bottom i don't know if she give up only she can tell us.

The following weeks have less that 33 races so if we expand it would be 1,2,1,1 = 5 Races not counting weeks 1 and 2 because
these weeks are Mostly Maiden races and which Group Races could we Cut or Replace with Handicaps i don't know but i think the trainers
Championship should be by races Won not Prize Money.

Week1 30
Week2 30
Week4 32
Week5 31
Week8 32
Week9 32
Week11 32
Week12 30
Week13 30

I wouldn't want to re-write the schedule this close to the season although I wouldn't mind adding 5 races if Leon didn't mind perhaps Steve can
look at a new Schedule for next season in is own time.

all well and good as long as trainers enter their horses correctly and use these raaces and not put a 90/100 rated horse in a grp 1

I agree with this statement as well we all like to think we group winning trainers but we are not you would have to look what horses are entering group races getting a big handicap mark and ruining any chance of winning if you have run your horse in two Maidens and got a rating of 90 don't put it into Group races you should looking at listed or handicap races.

The third season schedule was 100% better than any other schedule, races like the all weather championship was great because the top trainers really couldn't run in them. I think the top and middle is perfect and you couldn't change that much or take away from that group because u would be robbing one to give to another.

I class the top 10 trainers as group performer's
The 11 to 20 as high end h'cappers
And the 21 to 30 as the normal h'cappers.

I'd say there were 27 trainers on the flat last year, I'd say Martyn was the last one and if u look at how many runners from the 21 to the 27, it was 670+ runs and the horses won 23 race by those 7 trainers. I'd just like to see more wins for them down there.

If u look at the trainers between 9 and 17 most of them had 200 runners but below that the numbers dipped, was that a case of them not having a full squad or was it a case of they couldn't find places for their horses to run in.

It would be good to hear from trainers like Matt - Tele - Jim- Martyn because they have signed up so far and any other trainer around to see what they thought.

We have 25 already signed up for the flat so it should be competitive.

I am happy to go with the same schedule and then have a look at the end of the season.

The points made about placement is a crucial one in my opinion.

I wouldn't read too much into my performance in the last season we had. From what i remember i hadnt prepared at all for it and just threw any horses i had into my stable and didn't have time to continue participating in the last few weeks of it.

In terms of the schedule, i've no issues with the flat. NH Schedule i feel lacks a few handicaps, ive always struggled to enjoy it as much as the flat because my horses were sometimes out of the weights, but felt like i had to run them in a handicap because there was nothing else to run them in. Just looking at the early NH Handicaps for this season, does no one think the max rating for the races are a bit high? compared to the ones on the flat. Looking at week 2 the handicaps that are on offer are all listed/group class with no max rating. Then the week after the lowest is max rating 140, meaning your horse needs to be rated at least 120 to be in the weights.

Martyn I don't think we going to know until they have run some races because we don't know what numbers the computer is going to come up with. They might have to change when we know.

If the computer's not that great in the future I don't mind doing them if need be.

Never really looked at the handicap races over the jumps has most wanted the flat races looked at we could scan through and have a look see if we can lower some handicaps sure it wouldn't take a lot of doing perhaps we could start a little lower end handicap jump championship in a future jumps season like the AW one in the flat.
