Me neither Id be happy with a top 5 finish in flat
I think theres a good few ahead of me i really had my very best in the trials best at each distance
theres a very good chance some top trainers held there best back.

As for the championship happy to go with what you guys decide

I think the bookies trying to get better odd's on himself

U form going into the League is 8 places( top 4) out of 12 over jumps and all 6 runners in the top 4 on the flat. Sounds like good form to me.

I think people shouldn't take the Maidens form as gospel, last season I had a 4m4 horse called Moari Venture( I thought was outstanding) who finished a close second to Jamie's horse and we finished a mile clear of the rest and yet he flamed out the rest of the way. Then I had 2 horses that ran poorly( 6th + unplaced) in the maiden jump races and yet one won 3 out of 4 and the other who was unplaced won 3 out of 5.

And on the flat my 1000 Guineas horse Miesque was unplaced in her maiden yet won the next two including the 1000 Guineas. And my top 2yo miler ran 5th in her Maiden and yet won 2 group 1 races later in the season.

And the best case was a horse called Warrior Queen( my best ever 2yo) in season 2, she was 4th in her Maiden yet she went on to win 3 group 1 races.

Never take the Maiden's as gospel.

I can't see trainers like Ghost, Pj or Jalupen going down the handicap route horse's would carry to much weight and those days was even before i started playing in the league the league has moved to a more open game with more and low handicaps where before it was dominated by the best races and the trainers back then have also moved on i can't see Jalupen uploading handicappers lol just to win he's likes to win the best races like the derby and has no interest in handicaps that are 0-80.

I reckon it should be wins but i don't care what it is because i ain't winning it

I never run my horses in h'capps on the flat, I think if my horses are group horses then they only run in group races. I think h'caps are for h'cap horses. I've had a look through my horses and I wouldn't run a horse below a category he's won in. If a horse has won a group 1 then unless there's no races for him I wouldn't run him in races below group one's. That's just me.

Got a few 10th places... as expected my horses are nowhere near competitive  They were pretty much my best or top 2 for the distances too. Got a lot of breeding to do but started visa process this week and so time is at a minimum.

TL:DR - My horses are poor, don't EVER bet on them! :P

Some thoughts.

I like the points system idea.
I think the points system above works well for first, second and third (maybe fourth and fifth as well?) plus you could earn extra points for winning Group races, G3 = X, G2 = X and G1 = X.
Just thinking as I type - We could also run a prize money table as well AND a strike rate ratio table.

I am also thinking maybe we can have two group pools.
GROUP A for experienced league players
and
GROUP B for first year league players as well as an overall table.

After week 5 if a novice player/s is/are on top of their game with breeding quality runners then they can be moved into Group A
and if a Group A player is struggling then they can be moved into Group B.

I know this would mean added work and time to implement this type of lay out and ideally someone with spreadsheet experience would be needed
BUT
I think this adds more options for people to be Competitive and Engaged - which I think is important to run something successfully.
So we would have tables for -

points
prize money
strike rate
Group A
Group B
Combined A & B
Flat
NH
Dual code

now I am late for work lol :-)
Thoughts?

A forward thinker, I like it.

But we might be in the minority.

The only downfall of identifying a trainer/player with a good strike rate is that Tele could get hammered on the book lol :-)

Did you know you've got your tables around the wrong way in the dual code championship table? You've got James Harrison down as having 43 NH points and only 2 flat...

A table based on wins would be better than one based on prize money, but like others have said it might be too easy for people to try to take advantage of the handicaps with good horses which should be left for lower grade trainers to get a win.
