Post How do you guys trial your horses for the league?
With the new league around the corner, (i can't wait to participate in my first league!) ive started picking through the 100s of exports to find the league standard ones.

Just curious how you guys get to the decision of who you're taking to the track and how you trial them?

Personally i just trial all my 2-y-os 5f-1m1f on 3 different tracks.
All my 3-y-os in the same way.
All my 3-y-o+ the same and then give them scores based of their performances :)

There lots of earlier posts on here about trialing etc. If you hunt them down you should find good ones. Personally I trial every season. And I only breed with stuff that's decent in the trials. If it has won loads of G1's but is useless in trials it gets binned. If it has won no group 1's but is good in trials I breed with it. You can waste ages of time breeding with stuff that's no good in the CK

I'd say get a pacemaker for each distance and use the same one all the way through the game, make sure it's a nice even pace. All ways use the same courses and never run to many in each trial. Trial often, some people hate it but I'm happy to do it. I like to keep a record of my trial's, my book is getting full by now. I run about 8 races in each trial but I don't use a scoring system I just look at the results and I can tell who's best and I just give them a finishing position.

I'd say find out what works for u and stick with that system u get a feel for the horses.

Two other tips, keep all horses. You never know if u need to go back to go forward. And never save u horses with instructions, it just doesn't work.

I'll go on the search for the other threads now thanks :)

Is there any reason why some in game horses are no good in CK? I've personally noticed it or something that was average in game turned out to be a bit of a beast.

I did my first lot of trials yesterday and what I have found is the cream does float to the top - as in the horses that did well for me in game and rated well have stood out for me in my trials.
Now it's a matter of if they can compete at a reasonable level in the league.

I've not entered a league in a while, but back now, and I'd say finding your original game horses (save them all up an race each other in CK) and trialing are what most your time should be spent on. I don't really play the game properly, I use it as something to get my horses to the trials.

I split my trials into male an female groups, run 10 trials on GD-Sft, 10 trials on GD, an 10 trials on GD-FM. So 60 races in total each season. I use a tally chart to see how many times a horse has finished in top 2 for Colts, an top 4 for Fillies. Anything that stands out goes to game pool and stays in the future trials. It's usually these future trials that help determine how good horses are over a longer period obviously, you notice it more.

as i say, thats just me, but the CK trialing is definitely the most important part to compete properly. I wont be anywhere near a decent standard mind you as i only started playing the game a few weeks ago after a long time off so might nab a few places in H'caps :)
