Post Trying to Breed More Jumping Ability
My current crop of jumpers have only about 40% jumping ability and I was trying to breed more jumping into my horses. I scoured every auction for a few seasons and the best stallion I could find was:

Not exceptional jumping. but better than I had which looked like this

I bred the stallion about 50 times with my best mares and about 90% of the horses I bred had less jumping ability than my current crop. The other 10% had only the same jumping ability as I already had.

So I scoured the sales for another couple of seasons and found a couple of likely stallions to breed with. The strange thing is, these stallions again produced worse jumping than I already had.

Does anyone know if jumping ability should breed true or were the 3 stallions I picked just an unlucky bunch?

I've always found that you get better horse by breeding with your own stock, rather than with a computer horse, unless there's an absolute monster in the breeding barn who has won 30 G1's.

I gave up with them long ago, I found a colt who had one of them full and the other almost full but when I breed them to my horses it was less than the fillies I gave him so I gave up.
