Post Re: Crazy Idea
It was good to talk it over i know if I was back at the start again i would not want
help by using top trainers horses id want to climb the ladder on my own and enjoy
my own success how ever few they may be but am happy to share what i have if
its the way the majority want to go and i have always been open and shared alot of
my very best horses over the years and open about how i go about things always glad
to help others even if they end up going past me i enjoy that as much as my own success
by the sounds of it this is not the way that the majority want to go but i think its great
that someone impartial like Martin comes forward with ideas to make things better

Not a fan of this at all. Mark has put in place some checks to check for manipulation of horse files and allowing this will prevent these checks so as a result this is a no go for me.

Currently the league is in a good position where cheating can be detected so best we leave it that way

Think this would be too much work to get it started and when only as a side category to the existing races like "breeders" races.

This option is something Mark has to implemet through coming SO versions, first it would be nice an online league would be possible directly from the game without the community work.

actually a favour from the top trainers would be much appreciated , if some of you could put a gelded versions of your top horses in a save file and put them up would be a great , its handy for when you want to see how good your own horses are, trialing them against the best in the world gives you a outline of where you are with your breeding and how far you need to go. Also i dont really think much about the national stud in the proper league, maybe it would be great craic doing a mini league of its own where this is acceptable, a league where some dodgy dealings can happen and trainers can go into part ownership on horses and affiliation with each other.. Paul your irish aren't you , I know you would look after me if such a league came around

Agree with the above, I do not think it is a good idea with the sharing of top breeds and being a lower level trainer, I would prefer to have bred my beast (if there is ever one) through my own game.

Although, I am in favour of returning horses, maybe if some 2yo, 3yo horse winners (G1's) had to come back the following year, stopping top trainers from just filling up a new advanced stable, that way lesser stables would have a chance at getting closer and would stop an individual or individuals from picking up all classics in one season knowing full well they would have to come back a year later & a year older (more thought into stable & race planning management)

I imagine we are unlikely to implement any of these in the forthcoming last SO6 league, so maybe we look at waiting to see what the AI & Breeding of SO7 brings..

Would love to see multiple G1 winners having to come back. It would make the league so much immersive. However, with a such a short gap until the nest season we may get some coming back anyway

No worries about the largely negative reaction. Apologies if I have stepped out of line.

Was just trying to think of a way to make things more realistic. After all in real life a normal size breeder (ie not Coolmore, Juddmonte, Godolphin etc ) will try to send his best mares to the best available stallion in the hope that he gets a colt to improve his own stud. That is how the bloodlines progress and racing stays competitive.

Was nice to see that the top trainers were up for it and understood how real life breeding works, shows the good feeling and spirit in the game, but was slightly surprised how anti some others were.

As for the cheating comments I think they are quite ridiculous.

Not sure how anyone would think it is cheating. Pretty sure no one thought an ambitous Canadian breeder sending Natalama to Native Dancer was cheating. If they had we'd have had no Northern Dancer and subsequently no Nijinsky, Sadlers Wells, The Minstrel, Lyphard, El Gran Senor, Shareef Dancer or Lomond. All great horses and sires. Am also pretty sure none of the owners of those horses thought they were cheating when they stood them. Imagine racing without the influence and bloodlines of those horses. You would have to wipe out most of the best horses of the last 50 years, and they weren't all owned by the same person.

Thanks for reading it anyway. As you can see from the first post I never really expected the majority to go for it. Glad that some of you could see the point and the good intention of the idea though.

Post Re: Crazy Idea
What the fear was years ago Martin even before I started Playing that some trainers was swapping horse files between each other I don't know if this actually happen but I am sure somewhere it was suggested it could happen some trainers exchanging horse files with each other hence dominate the league when you ask the question that's why you get some negative replies we have had trainers who went on showing how to Hex your game and breed and actually change the Bars on the horse files Cheating is a bad word on here its like swearing.

Any mention of a cheat and all hell breaks if somehow in the future Mark could receive some of the top trainers Horse Files and put them in the game like SO7 so everyone could actually bred with these horse files would be a better way to go then we would all be openly doing it.

I think Mark could help with this if the game went back to the way SO5 was when it first came out, 3yo's could only get about 85% potential and so the older horses had a chance against the 3yo's. It would help people bring back older horses and give them a chance to compete. I'll be bringing one or two of mine back.
