Think there should be a formula in regards to yearlings ability. Say the mares 85% ability and the Stallion’s 95% ability it gives you a balance of 90% ability. From there 25% of foals should be between -30% and -20% ability from 90%. 20% of foals between -20% and -10% from 90%. 50% of foals between -10% and +10% of 90% ability and 5% of foals better than +10%. This can be veried in regards to starting % from parents but would be a much better system than breeding 2 parents who are 90% ability and ending up with a foal who is 15% ability. Just a rough guide.

I guess I'm alone in that I like the realism. I mean, even the best stallions have like a 20% win ratio. And look at the best of the best mares, Zenyatta's foals are being retired to jumping careers. Rachel Alexandra's aren't much better.

Glad i did not have to pay the £720,000 stud fee for each of my mares that would have set me back a cool £10,080,000
