I know mad Josh will run 170 rated horses in h'caps

I’d rather run them in an unsuitable race than not run them at all, it makes no difference for me, and I win enough hurdles with chasers or off top weight each year to tick over the board, wins are wins. I did pull from the Ultima to preserve the handicap for others this season.

Your absence was noticed, glad to see you back.

As for opening the entry window early, not the first time this has come up, i personally have no issue with this but may create additional work.

If we wanted to do something radical to take the pressure off allround make each game week a 2 week real time cycle.

I like this idea, I know people think the league season will take far too long. However, the workload would be exactly the same, but it would give people much more time to do things, without pressure. Also might help in a bit of conversation on the forums too. Banter or a few more previews etc because of the extra time

And my final thoughts on the season are simple. Mission accomplished, nothing left to achieve……..

PS - ‘How he does it’ it’s all on discord Martin. Though my most recent eureka moment I have yet to share……. Will do soon.

This is definitely an interesting suggestion - a potential solution would be

Reduce to 10 Weeks (20 Week Season)

40-50 races per week. Depends really on interest, amount of trainers etc.

Week 1
Races Run - Mon-Thu
Comms Done - Fri-Mon (Thu comms can be done Monday)
Week 2
Races Released Mon-Thu (potential to do lower grade races on Monday building up to the top races on the Thursday - 12/13 races per day)
Entries open from maybe the Tue/Wed to the Sunday
H'capper should also then have more time to work.

This may create more work for Gray possibly releasing races on four days rather than 3? Leon & Gray would be best placed here to give opinions.

Agreed with Vinny it could give more time for previews. Gone are the days of doing a full every race Royal Ascot preview and an hour long preview show with Martin & Stu  but people could drum up a bit of banter, news and previews/reviews etc. I remember previously we even had the SOPL Times and all sorts

That Paul Moores race might be my fav jump race ever, I always wanted to run two out and out front runners over the national fences, brit made lottery go extra quick and probably helped when he fell so he could slow down a bit. Watching it was like watching Rummy come after Crisp, I said in the season lottery might be my best jumper ever and he didn't put a foot wrong all race. What a way to end the season :D

Best season for me by far with 57 combined wins highlights being 14 group/grade 1s including a first classic in the 1000 guineas and a dewhurst as well as 2 of the big novices at cheltenham

First time ive really had more then 1 or 2 multiple winners but over jumps Grande Altomis racked up 6 wins and Spanish Archer and Stilleto Heel racked up 4 grade 1s each both champions in there division i think fair to say . Vivre la France maybe shaded best 2 mile hurdler or at least in the conversation and along with Spanish Archer will be coming back for more .

Huge thanks to all that make the league run and i personally would be happy to go along with any changes that occur going forward as i see it as any form of the league is better then no league and whatever makes it easier for the gents running it is all the better.

Congrats to Josh on cleaning up both codes which was a tremendous achievement and the target is well and truly on your back for next year !!!

Good season finishing 2nd on wins for the season in the NH

I can't believe I was in the lead in week 8 but I knew with the big festivals coming up Josh would soon overtake me
Congrats Josh and to win the flat too in the same season amazing

My Constitutionhill and Stateman Challenge well and truly failed lol, Seems everyone wants a good 2m hurdler now

Thanks to everyone involved in running the league they do a lot of work maybe too much tbh
I do agree with what a few people have already said that there are too many weeks and too many races each week

Thoroughly enjoyed my first season and glad that I was for the most part competitive. Really didn't know what to expect or how close I would be to the rest of you. Didn't have a number on how many winners I would get, but 20 on the flat and a Cheltenham Festival winner has to exceed all expectations.

I have learnt so much from all of you, and have so much to apply before next season in a hope to be closer to the front with more horses in the group races and have a bit of a larger NH team.

As a first timer the season did feel to drag a little towards the end, but that could just be fatigue on my behalf as I had put in a solid three months of preparation before the season started and then another three months while the season was going trying to improve for next season! The suggestions being put forward sound good, I'll leave it to the more experienced heads to make a decision but happy to contribute any ideas too if needed.

Thanks to all the contributors, thanks to all the trainers too that make it so enjoyable, competitive and entertaining. Hope to see all of you going again next season.

Paul

Disappointing season on the flat for me, but to be expected as I never really played it since the season before, and had a failed experiment with running styles. Much better over the jumps. A few competitive horses in the top ranks, without pulling up any trees. my best horse likely Sierra Vista Cheese who picked up 2 grade 2s an was second in the Cheltenham Stayers an another grade1.

Congrats to josh on both codes - Massive achievement that. Also to Paul on a very promising first season, an Munas who looks like he could break into those group races regularly any time soon, expecting big things next season. Especially if someone extends that nomination window for him :)
