Post Season 17 Trainers Post Race Discussion and Thoughts
A very good start to the season for my stable.

4 winners from 7 starts on the flat and a very unlucky 3rd place for Druid Light who was totally boxed in with 2 furlongs to go, did eventually manage to find some room and make a late challenge. Definately one to watch in his next race, whatever that may be.
Both my 1000 (Island Dance) & 2000 (Jupiter Bell) Guineas hopefuls ran today. A win and a 3rd place. Very pleased with this, especially when Jupiter Bell was slightly hampered in his run to the line.
Another highlight was my Oaks horse, Jupiter Bride winning over 1m 2f.
The big disappointment was Lexicon Distance in the 2m 4f race 9. I was not sure what to expect from this horse as his sire was a gamebred and there was no real pedigree behind his breeding. I guess it was more wishful thinking on my part that he would do well.

Two runners in the NH today. Was not expecting very much from my 6 horse stable and that was reflected in race 7 with my horse finishing well behind the leaders. Race 9 was a totally different story, a very surprising and comfortable winner in Military Convoy.

Well done to all the winners this week.

6 winning trainers on the flat
9 winning trainers in the NH

Mods, could you please update so new season forums are at the top.

Excited for the new season, then remembered i only had 5 runners out of the 13 races today

Good to see Jelly Emery looking as good as i hoped. Other races were solid but never looked like challenging. Disappointed by Spanish Kaite, hopefully a once off, or my milers are not near it... again.

Three 2nd's on the flat for my sprinters, albeit in lesser maidens which is a step up from anywhere I would normally be on week 1 and I have plenty that didn’t like the firmer ground so hopeful they will improve.

My NH horses are really poor as I expected & no work done since I lost my lines. By the looks of it, me and Alex will fight out the Hunter's Championship lol

Well done all day 1 winners, well done Martina as he got his win on Day 1, he moans alot about his stable, so something to make him smile.

Unlucky for DT on the NH, 5 seconds a 3rd and 4th from 8 runners but only day 1.

Finally a big shout out for all those that make it happen.

P.s I have four 4yo's in my NH stable, just saying Mart

As expected, mine are just off the pace, but in some cases not by a whole lot, I do think there's a few big handicaps and maybe a Listed/G3 win tucked among them somewhere.

Imhotep's Curse was the last horse I thought would see prize money, but has in albeit a probable weak 3yo race. Both Reichfall and Clash of the Titans ran well and bodes well for Titanfall later in the week who is far better than both of these. Looks like my stayers will be my strong point again. Pyramid Puzzle wasn't far away either and is far better than last years 4x winner over the mile Zoro on paper.

Amazed to even pick up some prize money with my flat donkeys over the fences, Homerry ran well for a long way which is good signs for what is probably my best 2m hurdler. Nebula Dawn ran OK and Manly Sea Eagle may have even gone close if it weren't for thumping the last. Although I feel that'll be a regular sight this season given most of the jumping bars on these are non-existent

Again, thanks to all involved and helping out.

Hard for me to be happy or unhappy really. Just 1 winner but 3 pretty close 2nds. Despite what Jim says, Sensational Seller was likely just as unlucky against Druid Light :) Feel he would have won but for being boxed in for a long way, then interfered with once out. Pleased with my Sprinters, Velocity World winning very well, although likely no to have beaten anything there.

My Milers were a big disappointment, but I kind of expected that. Sordid Sensation was the one I was intrigued to watch over 10f in the Winter Derby. Got very close to Jims an beaten on the nod (not the only one on the first day). Finishing 2nd on dirt an so close to what will likely be a very good horse, is a good sign for my middle distance horses.

Overall, none of my best horses ran, an most still ran very well, apologies to Paul an Ash now. Those 2 stayers not gonna get pretty handicap marks :)

Better than expected start for me, Selebela Mista was a comfortable winner in what looked like a poor field so hard to know how good it is.
3 second placed horses behind top trainers, also a third place and fourth place, only disappointment was Kate Moss finishing well behind in the 2m4f race.
Great to be back in league action so a big thank you to all involved in making it happen.
NH Downeaster Jotter won the Big Bucks maiden hurdle over 2m 6f. the rest of my runners were handicapper class.

On the flat some good runs! Texas Gin confirmed suspicions as being one of the best in the yard with a close 5th and I'm hoping that was a strong 3yo fillies race. Crocodile Tears ran well and will improve on the dirt/AW. So Scottish ran through the line in a strong maiden and I think my middle distance horses have improved significantly from the 50/60 rated ones last year. Main highlight was of course Titanfall, a big second in hopefully a strong race and all the big 2m+ races await.

NH wise, Yokohama falling within 4 seconds gave me a chuckle and probably sums up the season to come over fences, and that was the only highlight given the remainder of runners came absolutely nowhere.

If you have not watched the day 2 races, don't read any further as this will be spoiler.

I race ran the majority of the flat races on day 2 so already knew most of the race results so it has given me time to consider how poorly my horses performed.

In the Stable Tours thread I mentioned that my 1m 6f - 2 mile horses were not as good as last seasons and the 3 horses that ran today in races 18, 19, 20 proved that.

My Derby horse, Druid Temple, ran in race 21 and was a disappointing 8th.

I only uploaded one out and out front runner and he goes at Dubai tomorrow but I had a couple of horses today who normally run at an Even pace in the middle of the pack race away in front and then tie up with a furlong to go. Definately not the running style to get the best out of my horses.

I am not sure if the Firm ground on day 2 had any effect on the way my horses ran, most like softish or good going.

Looking forward to the big races at Dubai tomorrow but again not sure about the ground conditions. Half the races are on Dirt and the other half Good To Firm. My horses might just cope with GtF going but I have never bred or trialled my horses on dirt.

Well done to all the winners and those involved behind the scenes.

Wow that was a mad day for my team. 4 winners on the trott, I've never been close to that before

All 4 of my hurdlers have run well, that's been a major shock. Even my lowly rated flat stayers have performed better than I thought.

Looks like some of my jumpers got company up front this year.
:D

2 days in and a strong start especially from my flat team where nearly all have been right on the premises.Nothings Free had derby dreams and they are still alive and well after his dominant maiden win though do wonder if he just got the run of the race .....time will tell!!!

My 2000 guineas hope Harald Bluetooth was just denied by Joshs runner and in truth wasnt given the best ride but again how much that impacts the result who knows for now but classic aspirations live on .

Over the jumps there have been either very good runs or utter blowouts so not sure where im at .

The reason for all the different colours is just a mish mash of horses from different saves thrown together and if its confusing the comms team im having to do a scout to see which is mine at the start of every race as well lol

Huge thanks to all that put the league on and well done to all the winners

Same as yesterday one winner on flat and one winner over jumps, pleased with that.
Elusive Freddie won my race the David Robertson maiden hurdle so that was nice.
Sharky was my winner over the flat, a 2yo 9f race, other than that not much to write about.

Quiet day for me, 1 winner. Sordid Foundations was the only horse running on day 2 that I had any expectations for, an he won well. A good sign for my middle distance horses. He's also currently producing some very good looking offspring at home

Thanks to all race runners an comms team. Doing a great job as always. Not forgetting Alex

Happy enough with my Rookie performers this season on the flat, with my best horse Last Snowfall picking up a win for me on Day 1 in the 1 mile maiden for 4yo+.

Some places too and others in the money top 5.

The majority of my flat team came from a steely game mare (Kajaanna Edge), 70 season in, who won 43 out of 48 races from 2yo to 5yo ,that came up for mares auction when she was 17yo. I bred all the top Game studs from that save into her from that save point, that assembled my team. ( Half siblings, no clones, no repeats)

So I’m quite happy enough to compete.

Big thanks to all those involved in running the competition. Good fun. Really enjoying it.

Day 3 was a mixed day for race results.

Two winners at Dubai, the 1m 4f Dubai Sheema where Druid Surfer ran exactly as I expected, he hit the front early and never looked like being passed. Gypsy Clock in the 1 m 2f Dubai World Cup, she is not normally a front runner but she hit the front early and won very easily.
I suspect the round course with tight bends probably helped at Dubai.
The big disappointment for me was the 5f race. I really fancied Freedom Charade's chances in this race but she got off to a terrible start at the back of the field and never looked like challenging Vinny's horse.
I had specialist 1 mile horses running in the two 1m 1f races at Dubai and although they both placed in the races, I am not sure the trip or the ground conditions suited.

Well done to all the winners this week and thanks to all those who work behind the scenes.

Special shout out to Paul who joined the commentary team this season and made an excellent start to his career. Much better than I did when I had a go at commentating last season.

Jim

Am long enough in the tooth now, not to get too excited about week one results. My flat team looks the stronger of the two, which would stand to reason as it’s the only one I prepared properly even if I have only advanced about 6 seasons in both games. And there is enough in my NH team to make me think they will be thereabouts all season but my 2m hurdlers are terrible, and of course I had to win my 4m maiden chase with national blitz…….
