 From SO3
I was just wondering if this time that was achieved on SO3 is a great time compared to SO4 or do I need to improve, just follow the link and any comments greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No chance whatsoever.
That is a very good time, I think I've ran a 2.23/2.24 in my time, but its been a while since I worked on my 12F crop.

Cheers guys I wasn't too sure about the time, I know it's from SO3 but are the times slightly quicker in SO4 or about the same, do you find with more and more seasons completed the times get quicker?

From the looks of it SO3 times are faster than SO4 and 2:23/2:24 is unrealistic. I think that's why Mark tweaked it to be inline with real racing and lowered the times abit for SO4.
As to completing more season horses getting faster, I can definately say no. Because I tried this lol
When I was new, I've read people saying they are in their 50th season and some in their 100th etc. So I thought to compete in the league I have to run 100s in game years to be competitive. So I figure, advance the game 100 years and start buying up horses. If horses improved lets say 1/10 a sec per year, then 100 years they are 10 secs faster than horses 100 years back.
I did this and it was time consuming but from my testing, horses stayed pretty much the same. Looking at the winning times of the winning horses shows that in some years the trainer AI's produced very good horses and some years average. So advancing years makes no difference.
After doing a bunch of other test, my theory is this, as your stable gets faster, the gamebreds adjust and become faster too. If the trainer AI doesn't make the gamebreds faster as your stable gets faster, then you will be winning pretty much all the G1s making the game very boring. So to make it more interesting the gamebreds has to adjust. The only problem is that the even though the gamebreds improve, they don't improve fast enough compared to your horses.
I did another test where I had a very good stable with very fast horses. Winning times for 1m were in the 1:35 range 1m4f at 2:27. And my test was to just let all my homebreds die off.
Eventually my horses died off after 40 years even the ones in the breeding barn and I had no horse left. What was interesting was that the winning times of the gamebred started to decline. I was seeing winning times of 1:40-1:42 for milers and 2:36-2:38 for 1m4f.
I think the game was making the gamebreds slower so that if I had horses, I had a chance to win

Ok, you've got me curious now. I play the game for the pure fun of it, no league, no CK whatever that is. I see the times posted here and wonder if I'm playing an entirely different game? I have an unbeaten 3 year old filly, she won the oaks in a time of 2-32.49 and the King george in 2-33.23. I'm in 2017 which is what? year8? My question is, to those of you who keep stats, because I quite honestly don't, what is the average time for winning the oaks/King George. The times my horses are obviously running bear no resemblance to the times other posters are saying thier horses achieve. How can times vary so greatly in the same computerised game? As I initially stated, just curious.

Average Oaks time for me would be around 2:29/2:30 on Good ground, as for the King George I can't quite remember off the top of my dome - might have to revisit that one.

In my Oaks,
I run a 6f horse with (forcepace/challenge early)
I run a 8f horse with (race handy/challenge early)
I run a 10f horse with (even pace/challenge early)
Then I run my 12F horse with challenge late, normally goes aroud 40mph with 2f to go and ends up around 38-40mph at the post.
Pure speed, you'll see in the league how good i am

Bit crazy mate cus in reality you will never get this kind of pace in the league so your trials are run false imo

This is what I was thinking...
You might get a 10f horse racing handy and going early over 12f, but you won't get a mile horse or less going off in front because it makes it impossible to win with them in future, due to the +/- 2f rule.

This has degenerated into a 'this is how I do it for the league' answering session again. Does nobody else play this game purely for the single player manage your stable game. Is it solely used for people and their 'league' horses? If so, you're missing out on one hell of a good game with your obsession with league horses.

As I initially stated, just curious. The word "FUN" is relative really. I don't find beating gamebred fun anymore. That's why I've set up my own ladder system racing in the CK. As to your horse posting 2:32.49, it could technically run faster. I've noticed that a lot of horses just run fast enough to win. If you run that filly against tougher competition, it might do 2:31 or faster. Hard to tell really. You will never know unless you run it against faster horses. neves_rats wrote: This has degenerated into a 'this is how I do it for the league' answering session again. The original question was a comaparison of SO3 and SO4 times. Asking for times basically means league related. You're last post really didnt help much.

I think what he's doing is using 3 different pacesetters and each pacesetter take over at certain distances. Interesting if it works. We'll see in a few days.

OK, so there's a space specifically set aside for the league, but now, I'm supposed to be a mind reader and know that because people are discussing times it can only mean 'the league'. And, if it's so obviously a thread about the league, why hasn't it been moved to the 'league' space on the forum?
As it is in General discussion it is fair to assume it is about times in general, had it been in the 'online league discussion' section, not only would I have not bothered to read it in the first place, but, there would be no confusion to those that are not mind readers.
Now it has been pointed out that this is online league related, I am sure (not) that a moderator will move the thread to its rightful place.
