In the post

Just started a new season and to my delight there is a two Breeders Cup winner available to cover both my Oaks winning Mare and Arc winning Mare, happy days!

Post Re: A Breeding Formula?
Just thought I would give people a little update on my inbreeding experiment. I have just finished the season and of the 14 horses, 10 had a duplicated ancestor of which 7 have gone on to win group races. Nothing particularly special of that, but by far my best horse is bred from full siblings. It will remain to be seen how good she is next season! The other 3 do look a bit crap, but they were bred to teenage mares who hadn’t produced anything of note. It was their last chance saloon but clearly hasn’t worked!

I have also retired a couple of 3yo ‘almost horses’ from good ‘families’ to the breeding barn who were average compared to the rest of my crop (G3 at best). I have tried to pair these mares up with my best stallions to see what happens. One of my current crop is bred from an ‘ok’ mare with a top quality stallion & mare and they look to also be a very decent prospect. Fingers crossed.

Interesting stuff. Keep us updated.

When you say full siblings, in idiots terms you mean bred a son with its mum, for example?

pjr I am gutted for you, I have sold donkeys(that I thought) in the past and there have won Group 1's but and I repeat BUT not 35  My god that is worse than being slapped in the face by a fish...that is being punched and kicked all over by the horse itself

No I mean the parents are brother and sister and they in turn have exactly the same parents.

Just to let you know, that a lot of the duplicated horses havent trained on as well as I would have hoped so far. I will look into in more detail at the end of this season. The horse with full siblings is certainly the best of my bunch though, and I have another couple as 2yo's so it will be interesting to see how they get on.

Luckily I own the winner but I sold the next 4 as 3YO's the season of this race. I think it makes the game tougher (Which is a good thing), being that player produced horses are considered stronger than game horses in the long run.

Tbh I think you may be right. I am sure there is some calculation involved in deciding which horses produce good horses but trying to find it is another question. Not that I will stop looking though! :P
