See the graphs bars in the horses page do they do anything like move up or down and should i pay attention to them cuz i never pay attention to them...

they are a vague guide the only ones to worry about are the condtion bars

pjr does the stamina bar mean anything?
For example if I had a horse with a very low stamina bar and it said that the horse's best distance was 1 mile 2 furlongs, would that bar rise up to somewhere along the lines of it's ideal distance or would it be better to put the horse in 5-6 furlong sprints?

would have to see a screenshot mate if there is just a tiny line on the stamina bar then it is a sprinter but i have even had 4yos and the stamina bar would go up over night to there ideal diatance that can happen anytime

The bars usually change from 2yo to 3yo. Best thing to do is take a screen shot of a horse at the start of its 2yo season then its 3yo season. The stamina usually increases for the third year.

If you got a 3yo with a stamina bar over half way (along with high speed and accel) and a B/I of say 1m - 1m2, Race Handy!!

This 3yo Fillies speed coupled with a good stamina bar are really doing the business for me at the mo. I left it to the Jockey and she Forces the pace. I know for a fact her stamina bar wasn't that high as a 2yo. Something I have done in my last two season is wait until early September to debut my 2yo's. Nearly all of them have a stamina bar similar to this one and their B/I's range between 1m - 1m4.

The stamina bar is the only one I take any notice of.

For this colt I would ignore his BI of 1m2f, because his stamina bar indicates that he will only get 1m, or perhaps 7f. For any who have a stamina bar lower than this, I would run them over 5/6/7f, depending on their BI and what the jockey says/their performances indicate.




This filly had a stamina bar identical to the colt above in her 2yo season, so I ran her exclusively in 1m races. This season I will start her off over 1m1f and go from there (she may get 1m2f - 1m4f over her 3 and 4yo seasons, I'll wait and see how she grows up).



The other stat bars may have some value that I haven't stumbled upon yet, but for the most part I only take stamina into account as an indication of what distances to run them over.

I find that during their 2yo season and between 2/beginning of 3yo year their stamina bar does tend to jump up, as OnTheNose said, though I haven't noticed it changing in 4yos before (probably just me being unobservant, though, lol).

Here is a screen shot it is from SO3. As you can see the stamina bar is very low and yet ideal distance is 1M 1F but the mother when bred was a 13 YO, can that have an impact on the stamina bar?

Exxplozion, I know you're asking PJ, but I thought I'd reply anyway As far as I know the age of the sire/dam has no bearing on the abilities of the offspring, nor on their stats.

As for that filly, she's still a 2yo - I wouldn't be surprised to see her stamina bar jump up to the 1m mark later in the season/over the break before her 3yo year. As a later 3yo it might even jump up again to 1m1f, matching her BI. Having said that, it may never grow any higher, leaving her to run in 7f races.

PJ might have more insight for you.

Cheers Sabella, so what things stops a horses stamina bar from reaching it's level for the horse's ideal distance. You said that it might never reach the level so surely other calculations are used to gauge if the stamina bar goes up or not, is that the case? Thanks for a quick reply.

she is a 6f horse now and early next season she will prob be a miler maybe by end next season stamina bar will go up for a 3rd
time and she will stay 1m1f

there is very little chance she would stay a mile right now i would aim her at the chevely park guineas next year

its all random mate wait til her bar goes up a little bit to try a mile race

but def a sprinter at mo

p.s breeding indicater or adv best distance is for when they are fully grown 3 or 4 not at 2yo

Another thing that I have noticed is that the older one or both parents are the lower the stamina bar is for the horse, I have bred quite a few horses from a great multiple group 1 winner and the older that horse got the lower the stamina bar was for it's off spring, I could tell more when it was a 13 YO and was breeding with a game horse that was about the same age or older.

Well, the BI is the average best distance - so if you bred say, a 6f horse to a miler, their offspring's BI would be 7f, however that foal may only have inherited enough stamina to get 6f, rather than the 7f indicated. So the BI is an indication of what might be their preferred distance, rather than what absolutely will be.

I've done some weird breeding and had horses whose BI was 1m2f, but who only ever managed to get 7f, so those horses inherited their stamina from their sprinter parent.
