I was just wondering why the names we use to name our 2 year olds gets repeated many years later, I found this to be the case when playing SO3 lately, just wondered if this was the same for SO4..not played enough seasons to find out yet!!!
Here in the first picture is a horse that I retired to stud years ago.



And here is the same named horse (that I named years earlier) as a 2 year old Game Horse.

when you name a 2yo that name gets added to the list of horse names to be reused upon the retirement of your horse

basicly there was not a big enough horse name database in so4 and after about 10 seasons old horse names were re used
which ruined race history data i have heard that this will be fixed for so5 as we need a much bigger name database for so5
id say it needs to be 4 or 5 times bigger than so4 database to avoid clashes and avoid ruining feature race history

Cheers pjr. I just thought that it would have been better if our named 2 yo's were not repeated in the game and instead, because of the size of the horse database, to use gamebred names only. It's just a shame seeing a great horse coming back into the game that I had trained and bred to being a poor racehorse for a different trainer. So maybe about 30,000+ horses would be better.

Yep, it's a right pain in the onions.

I've found that the game is at its best for the first 6-7 seasons then the names start coming back and the horses get slower, going by record times that is.

Your'e telling me OTN, it is a pain. At least SO5 will last more seasons before the repeating comes into it lol

hope the database is big enough to last 20-30 seasons

the pain is when you look in diary and llokk at history of a certain race and names of winners are wrong
drives you mad especially when its your horse
it only does this when names start getting reused
