 I'm a success! (for now...)
I have just had a training enquiry from The Queen! She has sent me all of her 32 horses, including the favorite for the Brocklesby AND the Derby! I hope she doesn't take them away again, I've just started my second season I'm a 10* trainer and have had 3 G1 winners, a G3 win and a listed win. Fingers crossed for many more now.

Outstanding!
Anyone know how many different owners your allowed to get? Would it not be a conflict of interests if you got to many?

Re: I'm a success! (for now...)
I think I have 6 owners, although most of them have poor horses. The queen is the first one really to send me any decent ones. The first horse to win a G1 was a horse I started with and the other was in a Breeders Cup 2yo race so I'm not sure the form will stand up to much. She is the first to send me a properly good looking set of horses. I can't wait until my day off on Thursday to see how good they could be... Although fingers crossed I don't get the August 7th crash like some people have had...

Please give me a clue SC, I have got all ugrades apart from Breeding barn, got 50 stables but each time I do well with horse the owner takes it away despite me telling him it had some chance. N0w only got 2 OAP horses that are worse that selling class with no chance of ever winning, they always trail in last no matter about distance or going. Got a good amount of money but it is steadily going down due to costs with nothing coming in. Had 3 open days and dropped training charges but still no good.

Bill To try and help you here's a few screenshots: This one is to show the stable on the right hand side of the screen by upping everything and making the stables up to 100 it allowed me to get to 10 stars as a trainer which is the most important thing to do first this will mean that open days are much more effective and will bring in more new oweners see highclere above who just sent me 24 new horses. But a word of warning the oweners all seem to have different chracteristics some seem to be happy watching there horses place some like them to run in a high standered of racing regardless were they finish and some just like winning work out which owener is which quickly to aviod losing horses. On this screen we are looking at the preffered trainers slot the higher to the top of that you are the more trust and time the owner will place in you and the less amount of horses he will take of you if you are 2nd or 3rd expect a horses that you win constantly with to be taken away and moved to the 1st trainer. Finally a quick overview of how i have improved relations as you can see Wathiq started out by finshing last in a madien easily done Hold Up (challenge later) and then followed this up with 2 wins these are important as they boost the Owners relations despite only being C7 C6 handicaps and if he asks you if thier fancied and you tell him to "back it" relations seem to boost nearly a whole smiley depending on the price/class of race. Hope this helps a bit bill anymore questions please ask.

Bill Ok, well I am more than happy to help with any problems, but usually I would shy away from giving people direct advice about how to do well in the game. I have learnt most of what I know myself from trial and error and I suggest that people do that. But as there are quite a few people struggling and as for now I seem to be doing ok I will post a few things that I have found in playing around with the game in owner mode: This is where I am in the game: Easy mode, Flat only, Season 2, about the beginning of March. I have 56 horses 2 G1 winners, 3 G3 winners and a couple who have been placed in and won listed races. The rest are either untried or generally useless. I have 6 owners (I think) and my biggest supporter at the moment is The Queen. I finished 7th in the trainers champ in season 1 and one of my horses was sprinter of the year. Generally I am losing money because race entry fees are high for group races and I'm not charging enough to get by, so I'm making money by betting. Here is what I have done so far: Tip 1: RETIRE FROM GAME all horses who are over 9 and who can't even pull it together in a seller. They will leave at the end of the season, I have noticed owners tend to keep these horses with you whether you race them or not. Tip 2: Be REALISTIC with your race entries, but NOT TOO realistic. Here is an example of an experiment I did in the game with two different horses a colt and a filly, the purpose was to see owners reactions to running in different classes of race: Horse 1: 4YO C Touch Of Dandy: 7f but can cope over an extended 6f. He is C3 standard at best but he just wouldn't put his head in front, he had a string of 2nds and 3rds in C5-C2 races. So I entered him in a claimer, he won doing handstands and a new owner bought him. I SAVED the game and tried my experiment. I entered him in a C5 0-80 handicap advanced to the race day, he ran, he won and the owner moved him to Sir Michael Stoute. Weird eh?! So I Ctrl-alt-deleted and ended the game and instead entered him in a C2 0-100 handicap, advanced to the day. He ran 5th and the owner kept him with me and was still really happy with my training performance and thanked me for telling him the horse had 'some chance'. Horse 2: 3YO F Aberfait: 1m struggles to drop to an extended 7f but can cope with it. I think she 'could' pick up a weak fillies listed race, she isn't brilliant and isn't listed class by far but she's a front runner and in an easy race with little pace she doesn't stop in front so I think she could steal a nice race for me. Realistically I'd say she's a C3, maybe C2 handicapper though. But again I train most of her owners' horses (Sultan Al Shah) and he is very happy with my performance, but he has two other trainers who are rather out of favour with him but who are higher up the trainer rankings. She won a seller after having a disappointing 2YO campaign and the Sultan bought her back. I entered her in a C6 0-65 handicap, she hosed up and she was taken from me and put with a higher ranked trainer. Same as before I ended the game and entered her in a feature handicap (it was a 0-80, can't remember the name though) She weakened and finished about 13 of 19 and the Sultan kept her with me and I still have her now. I think, like in real life, owners don't like to see their horses constantly running in low grade races and seem much happier and more likely to keep a horse with you if it is finishing in the first 10 of C2 races rather than racking up wins in C4,5,6,7 races. No owner wants to be told they have a 'no-hoper' so to keep them happy by being aware of the actual ability of their animal but still entering their horse in a variety of different classes races. You may just pick one up, like I'm hoping to do with Aberfait. Tip 3: Hold Open days every month, and try to enter horses in races that are appropriate for their abilities around the time of the open day, the better your horses have done around the time of the open day seems to influence how many enquiries you get. Tip 4: DECLINE training enquiries from owners who offer you bad horses, this will only make you ranking worse and make it harder to train winners. But do accept 2yo's even if you think they might be useless just because you never know... Declining enquiries does not seem to affect other owners coming to you with new training enquiries, I declined loads of enquiries before The Queen came along because I just didn't want to fill my stable with sh*t and get a bad rating. Tip 5: Be PATIENT the owner side isn't something you can rush through. You need to sit down and really plan which races would suit your horses, one wrong move and you've lost that horse. It will take time. I can get through a season on SO4 in about 4 hours if I'm rushing, but on this owner mode you have to literally watch every race and take each day as it comes and plan meticulously where you want your horses to race and the opposition you want them to face. e.g. Aberfait has just won a 0-105 handicap over a mile by 5 lengths, this form in completely false she isn't a C2 horse, she wasn't the best in the race I just placed her well. She was the only front runner in a 5 runner fillies handicap and she stole it, which is how I'm hoping she might get a decent win to her name. But the owner is over the moon with this! Her rating is high so I'll have to just wait for another opportunity like this to come along. Tip 6: Send 2yo's who you don't want to race 'out to grass' I don't think owners can take them from you if they're out to grass, so you're guaranteed to have a few horses for the next season. I can't think of anything else right now, but I'll post if I do. Or if anyone else wants to add anything please do.

Re: I'm a success! (for now...)
Just to add I disagree I DON'T think that increasing the stable capacity to 100 makes a difference I am also a 10* trainer and my capacity is 60. Before it was only 32 but The Queen still asked me to move her horses in. Same with Sultan Al Shah, I just built new stables then accepted their requests. So the juries' out on that one!

Re: I'm a success! (for now...)
Yes I did. He was one of the 6 I started with. The other G1 winner I have had is a filly owned by Sultan Al Shah who was the first person to enquire from outside and when I pressed 'accept' to his request the game told me that I didn't have enough stables. So I added enough stables and then I could accept his request. So I'm not so sure you need the 100 stables to get to 10* rating, actually I'm positive because I'm a 10* trainer with only 60 stables.
A couple of questions about your screen shot though, what screen resolution are you using? Did you do anything different to get your fonts so clear? How do you get your list of horses so long, mine is tiny so I have to scroll a long way to get to the bottom of the list??
Thanks.

Re: I'm a success! (for now...)
I've not had a horse for 2 years.
Managed to win the Cheveley Park with a 80 rated horse tops! the owner took that off me after the end of the season and I've been left with no horses for 2 years.
I have all the facilities & 100 box yard.
I'm a Group 1 winning trainer who can't attract anyone with open days.

Thanks. Yeah I think it's very helpful though if you do not have any group 1 horses as I don't. I use 1900 x 1280 usually but for that screen it was 12x0 x 800 windowed the clearness is probably the wide screen moniter I'm using and to get the long list there is a 3 down arrows button next to the names of the courses on the home menu press it and it will take away the racecard and you can see more horses

Re: I'm a success! (for now...)
*#~CHEAT ALERT*#~
Tip 7: This is cheating but another thing you can do to ensure you get off to a good start is to start a new game and only continue with it if you have at least one horse rated 85+, these horses should win you a G1 or at least a few good races. I was lucky this time and started a new game and was handed my 86 rated 6f sprinter from the off who has won me 2 G1's. But if you're not then you can do this, I have spent many a time on SO2, 3 and 4 starting and re-starting games to get a decent horse to give you a chance of being competitive in the first season.
Usually this only works on Easy mode, rare-ish on Normal mode and almost non-existent on Hard mode.

Re: I'm a success! (for now...)
I had 10 horses at the start of season 7. I won SIX Group 1 races in that season. I now have 2 horses as 8 have been taken away.
Makes perfect sense. My trainer rating is now *. Yes thats just one star for winning six Group 1's. I cant attract any new owners now. Game over
