 Re: decent mares....
Yes it happen to me as well. I am just beginning my 7th season and noticed most of the good horses are colts. So far relying on whats available in breeding barn from game. Below is the best I got during my 6th season.

This was a similar case with SO4 also.

 Re: decent mares....
generally this is realistic because if you think to all the major races where males and females race, youll find more time then not the males dominate unless the female horse is something special.

The thing with horses is this......very good mares can be hard to find... but when you get a good one... they are EXTREMELY GOOD. when teh chips are down a good mare will help you out of trouble a lot better then a gelding/stallion. i just imagine the game is reflecting this realism? (saying that i have owned a bad mare who was VERY VERY VERY bad.... but now have a good mare whose a lot better than any gelding/colt ive ever had)

 Re: decent mares....
I've bred a filly with 35 group 1 wins and unbeaten. Dominates men and dominted older horses as a juve.
Can't wait to find her the right stallion

 Re: decent mares....
I found in SO4 it was much easier to get a great mare than a great colt and a few people commented to the same effect. Maybe Mark has fixed this to make the colts better or to make game fillies better...?

 Re: decent mares....
I haven't found any really that are any good, only decent filly I've had was bred from a C6/C7 standard mare and the 10 furlong Ascot record holder. Just bred her to the 6f Ascot champion that somehow came up at auction (God must love me after all) so will see how that turns out when I get some time off work to play properly!
Does anyone have any tips on how to spot a decent mare for breeding? I've never been able to find a good broodmare, some throw out a superstar and a bag of crap.

 Re: decent mares....
Well... I've bred more group winning fillies than colts in SO5 so far (though I haven't played a whole heap yet) - for the first few seasons I just sold all my 2yos to build up cash, but I prefix them all so I can easily keep track of how they're doing in the form book. I just checked- 9 Group winning fillies, 4 Group winning colts/geldings (that are still in the game, anyway). So, not an overwhelming bias, but it's definitely there. Not sure if it's just the bloodlines in my breeding barn, though, or luck. Redeyez wrote: I've bred a filly with 35 group 1 wins and unbeaten. Dominates men and dominted older horses as a juve. Dude. I don't suppose you'd be willing to share her...? (I know I wouldn't, lmao!)
