Post Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Wasn't sure where to post this guys as it's not technically a bug, more a gameplay issue which I know will be way down the priority list at the moment.

However I'm raising it as I know this annoys lots of people.

Unbeaten Derby winner in my game - first run after the Derby is last of 14 in the Group 2, 2 mile Londsdale Cup, and next entry is the Doncaster Cup!

I know the improvement of trainer AI was a highlighted benefit of SO5 (think I'm right in that?), and I'd like to know if this is something which can be looked at/tweaked further if time permits.

Regards
Paul

and apologies for the poor quality of pic - I've forgotten how to do it properly! :(

This definitely shouldn't happen, so hopefully Mark can tweak something here. A horse that wins a G1 shouldn't be running in a G2 later in the same season, but perhaps in this case it's because the game considers this particular horse to be primarily a stayer, and of course there is a shortage (as in real life) of G1 races for stayers.

Panther, something else I've seen is G1 winning sprinters entered into the Arc or Japan G1 races and not the Abbaye or Japan sprint its really odd. They aren't even milers who are sprinting, they are 5f horses. One even won the Arc! I'll post a screen shot at some point later on.

This relates to the issue that I've mentioned in the bugs thread, and really only affects overseas races. At the moment, the pools of overseas horses include far more sprinters than horses over any other distance, so the game is sometimes struggling to fill overseas races with suitable horses in some of the longer races, so it ends up having to make use of the extra sprinters! I'm hoping Mark can look into this.

It doesn't affect countries where there is only one feature race, as Mark built something into the game where horses for those countries will be mostly suited to that one race, so most Australian horses in the UK schedule will be stayers, while most German and Canadian horses will be middle distance horses. However, this doesn't seem to work when there are many races in a country, and instead it seems to provide anything up to 50% sprinters, even if there is only one or two sprint races.

Thanks Panther. As you can see these are both UK horses. I bought the top one after he flopped in the Arc, there were loads of UK sprinters in last seasons' Arc but I can't find the result at the moment, or the one which won the Arc. Also there is a 20 odd time G1 winning 1m4f horse who has never run in the Arc, he always goes to the Canadian International then the Breeders cup...

That's very strange. Are you using PJ's worldwide schedule, as I see there's races in there that aren't in the default schedule? If this is the case, I would check the schedule file to see if any preps are slightly out of sync, as there was a problem with this in the schedule editor before it was deactivated. This is the only thing I can think of, as this never happens in the default schedule, where the Arc is specifically prepped to include the very best 1m4f horses in Europe.

Using the default schdule i definatly have had this problems so i suggests checking the prep races for the ARC maybe PJ accidentally put in a sprinters race which would explain the amount of sprinter running in it?

Probebly something to do with the 5f Group 2 the King George and the 1m4f King George?

Good shout. As I said, I didn't notice this issue when I was testing the default schedule, but it could be that the wrong King George is being used as a prep. If this is the case, I will update it.

This happened alot in my game too to stop this i given the derby horse a path to take by adding the derby as a prep race to other top G1
I also found alot G1 horses joining G3 races in july to oct so ive adding notwongroup=1 to alot G3 races too works alot better now but its impossible to get it perfect

edit

I also made the Doncaster Cup a 4yo+ race because Derby horses would still sometimes enter this race

Thanks for the input Panther. I added a few races using the schedule editor before I started my game and before the editor was locked which is why there are extra ones. But I opened up a new game with the default schedule and rushed through a season to transfer a good horse and there were sprinters in the Arc again... Forgot a screen shot though!

No, I did it in the Schedule editor in the game. I wouldn't know how to do that, it isn't a huge deal, just a bit weird. But it has happened in the default schedule for me too.

There's your problem when you add races in the schedule editor it changes the prepped races put in, So you have to delete all prep races and add them all again in schedule editor for them to be correct.
