Post Race preferences
Ok so at the moment i am still on SO4 but i figure the same things will apply for SO5.
My question is: What is the best/easiest way to determine a horse's race preferences?
I tend to only use Race Handily, Easy Pace and Pacemaker. After reading a few things on here i am starting to wonder if that is part of my problem with winning/placing in races. I have basically just fumbled along and figured it out for myself so far, but there are a few things i just don't get lol

I have also noticed that when galloping my 2 yr olds, whichever one i pick as the 'lead horse' for the gallop goes great till about 2-1.5 furlongs out then drops right to the back, and yet when i pick a different horse the previous gallops 'lead horse' will sit up front and stay there till the end. I don't get that at all :/

Any help with this would be great, so thank you in advance for any help you guys can give :D

I don't use the gallops that much so can't help you there but for the jockey instructions, what I do is just book a good jockey to ride my horse and leave the instructions blank for the few couple of runs until the jockey feedback says "which suited" and then I run it in that way only afterwards, seems to work for me.

I always let the jockey decide for the first run until I have established lines which I can predict. Then I use what I think will suit the horse.

With the gallops, I never use a 2yo to lead 2yo's, how will you know who is your best?! I use the best 3yo or up at the distance I'm galloping them at, that way if the 2yo's beat it, or even get close I know I have a decent bunch.

I concur with the others here in regards to hiring a good jockey and read his/her feed back after each race.

The tactics may have to be changed slightly if the horse runs over a shorter or longer distance than normal, but you should be able to work that out when the time comes.

I use Hayley Turner all the time when available. She seems to ride different

horses in different ways and gets plenty of winners. So I think it does

pay to choose a good jockey.
