Post SiriusChill's Game
I want to make a thread where I can note some of the things that I find interesting in my current SO5 game.

First off I'll note that I do all my own training. I like to micro-manage all my horses training schedules. I find it much more rewarding doing my own training. I'm a stamina trainer with all my horses training set for stamina. My typical training schedule is to give a horse 14 days of mid training and then 7 days of heavy training before a race. The day before a race I set it back to mid so they aren't heavy training on the day of the race. After the race, depending on the type of horse, I give them 14 to 21 days of light training. This can change if big feature races come quickly after the last race. Always I'll give the horse at least 7 days of light training after a race.

Since the first Starters Orders I've done this approach and without fail my win percentage is always between 30 and 33 percent. I've won over 35 million in a year and had a money total over a billion in a game.

So on to the beginnings of my new SO5 game. In the first year I use the 'Note the Winners and alt+ctrl+delete out of the game and bet on the winners next time method' ...to get a large bankroll going early. Then I buy a promising looking horse at auction for a modest price and hope to make it a stakes placed runner so I can sell at auction for huge profit.

With a large bankroll I purchase a top priced 2yo at the beginning of the year auction. The horse MUST have an asking price of $1.9 million or higher and MUST have multiple trainers bidding on it before I bid on it. I believe these auction 2yo's are more likely to be top class runners. It might take a few years to get that top class horse but it always happens. The horse I buy will hopefully become the foundation Sire or Mare for my breeding operation. When you start breeding your own horses the horses become much better.

A few years into my game and I have this horse who I will sell at the end of the year for big bucks. It is not my foundation horse. One of the most infuriating horses I have ever trained!...

Record 12 Starts / 1 Win / 3 Places / 7 Thirds -- 5 Grade 1 checks. I'll give him this, he is consistent.

You'll sell him, then see him dominate group 1 races you've entered with another horse... Had this happen to me too many times!

Same here. Usually though the next trainer only gets one grade 1 win out of the horse and then it's downhill from there.

Well after trying to find a foundation horse without any success I decided to try a different approach. I bought the top male 2yo at the beginning of year auction. A 6 furlong horse who I sent out to win first time out. I then immediately sent it to stud. I did the same thing the next year with a 2yo filly. First time out a win and then sent to stud. I then bred these two to the top priced stud/mare each year. Six of seven of their first offspring are Grade 1 winners with five of them being millionaires. One offspring I cast off became a Grade 1 winner for someone else. Their sons and daughters are now in my breeding shed. The dynasty is set.

These two foundation horses are passing on my favorite running style for a horse. Break fast on top / Get position on rail / Settle back in mid pack / Rally in the final two furlongs. Interestingly they show great battling qualities but their 'battling qualities' bars are real low.

Here's the first offspring to make it stud.
