I've played Starters Orders for years well ever since John McCririck was on the front cover and i've got to say with this latest edition i'm very disappointed. The game is great as are all the previous SO however it just feels exactly the same as every other version with just a few tweaks, i mean effectively it is just a large patch not a new entire game. The Trainer game was a superb idea and i was looking forward to it with extreme enthusiasm however it is virtually unplayable, it's a Demo that hasn't even been tested and we have to pay for it! Obviously i'm grateful to mark for making the game but don't forget we all have paid for it, it isn't made just because he feels like it so what i'm trying to say is that i just hope that a REAL and decent patch comes out that will sort this game out for good and that we get our moneys worth

i thought so5 was disapointing at first it just looked like a small update from so4 but having played it for several seasons(LOTS) now there are
great improvments and i am loving it even doing somthing i never thought i would do again (train hard for the lge)

There was a thread like this started by Hurricane Run soon after the game was released, read it. It might give you some more insight into some of the long term changes you'll see which you'll only come across if you play the game a lot more.

If you're that dissatisfied then contact support and write your complaints/suggestions politely to Mark, he is very open to constructive, coherent, suggestions and criticisms. There is little we can do on here other than justify why we think it is a great new game which we have already done in another thread.

Its more than just a patch, its 10 times better than so4, and just look at football manager 2006/7/8 there just similar with a database update nothing changed much but that was like about £40 to buy so5 is only £20 with loads more features.
And saying that fm has over 100 people working on the game, mark is himself really and done alot of work and made the game better, were as sigames over 100 people didnt really do much except update.

I think So5 gets ten out of ten from me, there's afew new things like u have the ability to change most things in the database( i love that), plus u have more data on the horse's. I'm glad the graphics have not changed, i love it that way. My fav game apart from this game is pro cycling manager and they have totally killed the game in the last few years by having great graphics but having awful and i mean awful game play. For me it's about the game play rather than the graphics, i'm still playing on my cycling manager of 2003 rather than the rubbish they make now.

Yeah totally true its not about the graphics but game play, SO might have 3D Graphics like horse racing manager but it totally puts HRM to shame saying that HRM graphics are not as good even tho its 3D.

Craig hrm is a awful game, funny enough that is made by the maker's of cycling manager( cyanide) someone should tell them that they make awful games.

Yeah i know lol, most of the names are french cuz cyanide studios are french, plus the fact that its not even real schedules or nothing and the graphics arent as good.

I have paid well over £40 each for games (from peeps like EA) that need updating, and two years on still waiting..

In my opinion, since this is a very niche market we should be very grateful for the efforts as you don't often see any game publisher releasing patches every week.

HRM isn't that bad. It made me learn about 20 new French words and caused me to buy Starters Orders within the week. HA!
I do like Pro Rugby Manager from Cyanide.

I agree that you don't fully appreciate SO5 until you get a couple of years finished. I'm addicted!
