Post A couple of possibly noobish questions.
Hey guys. I'm loving the game. I decided against importing any horses from the forum. I have ran 2 games for 1 and 2 seasons just to get a better hang of the game itself. I have come up with a couple of questions that may have been asked before, but after reading posts with "Newb" and "Question" as the search, I didn't seem to find them after several of pages.

Question 1: If I choose to go with the Auto-Training method. Do I still benefit/how much do I benefit from farm upgrades such as swimming pool, All-Weather/Dirt Gallops, and training stalls?

Question 2: At the beginning of the game. Would you suggest/is it worth it to bid on the new horses in that first auction? If so, what should I be looking for? (Note: I am playing a US Schedule)

This is all I really have for now. After my 2 learning games, I am about to start what hopefully will be my first "serious" game attempt. So far in my first temp game, in 1 seasons time I trained a (1) winner from one of the starter horses it gave me, and in game 2 I trained a (2) winner from one of the starters as well.

Firstly, I'd leave the magic mushrooms to one side psilocybin!!!

Q1) Dont know, sorry.

Q2) Horses aren't really worth buying in auctions unless you are spending circa £400K+ (and even that isn't necessarily guaranteed).

Welcome to the community mate, and best of luck with your game.

lol! Getting a little old for them nowdays, but the nickname stuck!

I thought that was the case with the horses. I was thinking I'd be better suited dealing with my starter ones, gambling a bit, and investing in a proven group 1 or group 2 winner and move from there in weekly auctions.

Still curious about the training situation. Trying to figure out the best route to go in my main game. Thanks for the welcome, seems like a great community.

Use auto training it saves so much time. Horses are fit all the time and still benefit from all the facilities.

Post Re: A couple of possibly noobish questions.
ive only been playing a short while, but hey - in for a penny! haha

Q1 - i'd prefer to have them than not have them. ive not run any statistical analysis based on with or without. it comes down to whether these items are just code glitter or code impact. unless you run many, many games, with focus on this side of the game - its unlikely you'll know with 100% accuracy - unless you are the developer. developer response here would be fab!

Q2 - again, this is a tricky one. it depends how the game is coded. spending over 400k for a horse doesnt guarantee success - buying a cheaper horse with certain traits, coupled with another horse with certain traits - might just make for a good horse, which could then go on and cover a horse which produces a fine string of horses - then a couple of them could go on and produce a handful of select horses - in turn, from this batch, you might have one which could be a worthy candidate for group success and have the ability to produce a string which had a few breeds ago. make sense??? ;)

ultimately - you need to enjoy it and play with it to find traits. essentially what you attempting to do is get inside the developers minds on how the game is coded - once you do that - starters orders 6 will be released and you can start all over again!!!

great game!

Thanks for all the advice guys! I'm going to go auto-training, and I'm not sure if I will pick up any horses in the very first auction or not. What I'm thinking is do some gambling, and watch the weekly auctions. Every now and then you see a proven group one or two winner pop in, which I could grab then.
