Hi Matt,

Hope you are well.

For me the best horses should always win group 1 races. Cutting stable sizes just means you are winning races because another player isn't competing. The new proposals were very much group race heavy and a return to an elitist league. Most players take part in handicaps so to me that is where the majority of races should be. By implementing a comprehensive handicap system new players will enjoy the league more, and move up to compete with the best later on. If we don't get these players in the first place, competition at the top will remain as it is.

For example Akhc would be challenging Scatters just as Scatters took over from Jason. If these three were in the league together it would be very interesting who would come out on top - with a few others stepping up to the plate. Duke etc.

Steve

I am well thanks mate.

In real life one trainer does not dominate every division. In SO5 this is whats going to happen. The new proposals actually meant that one trainer couldn't have a horse to run in every single G1, he wouldn't have enough horses to do this. In real life G1's can be won by smaller stables and this should be in the case in SO. It was not a return to an elitist league at all. If the top trainers concentrate on 8-12f then that leaves open sprints and cup races to possibly be won by other trainers. Or to build a stable of very nice 2yo's.

I will have no chance of winning a Group or Listed race with the stable size at 30. So I will aim all of mine at the top handicaps. I will do it fairly and legally but I would really fancy my horses to dominate these races. There is absolutely zero chance of of horses progressing from handicaps to be competitive in Group races. Group races will be dominated by one or two trainers. Scatters isn't around anymore, Duke wont be playing. I'll bet odds on now who will come out on top.

i back Steves idea

to me a win in the lge is a win doesn't matter to me if its a g1 or a handicap
in fact it brings a new challenge aiming at handicaps and trying to win a major handicap will be a good challenge

You are never going to get a schedule that pleases everyone can we can go round in circles debating it and the lge will never happen
i think we all have to get behind Steves ideas and get this started we can talk about development in the future
we may only get 1 season of so5 now anyway

I have never won a g1 in the lge it does not bother me and if someone has better horses than me fairplay because they have put alot of time
into developing there breeding op and team i will be the first to congratulate them

AKHC has run some serious in game times but have not seen alot of his ck times the ones he put up ages
ago i seem to be fairly competitive to those others could have better or close to them
i dont think 2 trainers will dominate

i look forward to holding a few back not run in group races to land a gamble in a major handicap thats as big a buzz \as winning g1s

for all i know mine still might only be handicappers anyway

with steves ideas every trainer has chances to win races in lge

It was only a joke. On one or two trainers dominating the league.

Im happy to go with the flow. I know you have everyone's best interests in mind and thats all that matters. I would prefer a mix of the new and old schedule but am happy to go with the old. Reduce stable size at all?

I really hope I am wrong but I think you will see two trainers dominate the G1's and then a second tier of trainers dominate the handicaps. The smaller trainers wont have horses up to winning top handicaps and I will only run mine once in a maiden before it runs again in the big handicaps. With the stable size at 30 I will have two horses to aim at one race and will go with the one who I think to have a nicer handicap mark. I see no point in running mine in listed or Group races as Id rather win the big handicaps. Therefore I will have listed horses running in handicaps off decent marks. I had four horses who were unplaced in their maidens who won a G1 last season.

akhc's times will be much better than the ones he posted awhile back. I can beat them and i've hardly played the game. Every horse he enters will be a G1 horse.

I'll be fighting you in the handicaps. I wish you well

I would like races to fill up so let's stick with 30 for now and get the show on the road.

We can develop as we move forward if people want.

Get involved on the development team Matt?

Ok lets go with that. Im busy with various things but if I can help out in some way then I will?

TOM is the main thing. Is it ready and do we have someone that can do what we need to do during the season? Getting the horses and then putting in the results?

I don't understand this all aiming for group winners keith if my horses are not good enough then in handicaps it is I know what rich was trying to do is spread out the winners of group races among more trainers than the ones who where winning them all but I have to agree with PJ the best breeding operations deserve to win group races and that's the point of breeding to get the best horses.

Like a pj I will be glad in picking up a Handicap but would love to pick up a G1 but if my horses are not good enough that's it whats a point of picking up a group race when really its a handicapper at best the best should always win the group races like irl.

What about you Keith picking up the mantle with PJ and both work along with steve.
