So after arguments beginning to brew on the new league president thread I thought I would ask what people think about the league...

There are many people who are itching to get going with the league and desperately want it to start as they have been waiting almost 6 months for it. However, one or two more have come out of the woodwork complaining of things being rushed and of a dictatorship appearing.

To that end, here is a thread where you can post your opinions and ideas about the league, when it should start and any ideas you would like implemented.

N.B. The views in the above post are not my own, but deduced from reading other people's comments. Anyone is welcome to post ideas or opinions on the league, but keep it polite, clean and please don't be upset or offended if your views are not taken into consideration at this stage. In addition to this, personal insults to any of the newly appointed league staff or anybody who shares an idea or opinion on this thread will not be tolerated, your posts will be deleted.

In my opinion we need to run 1 season ASAP, then take the summer to discuss and formulate new ideas and plans for the second season over the winter. If we keep this constant discussion, bickering, name-calling and disagreement going then we will never have a SO5 league season and we will lose even more valuable players. Plus if I were going to buy a game and found this forum first I would be so put off by some of the nastiness that is beginning to appear, so think of Mark too.

Dictatorship is quite a strong accusation.

Arguments are all part of the process. Without disagreements there will be no progress

Realistically we looking at the end of March. A few things need to be still done. But the league will be going ahead.

Over the past 24 hours i have tried to get all parties together but as you said there are 2 different views
i was appointed president by default i would happily step aside as i have said before i am not the right man for the job
but no one came forward

i certainly don't want to be regarded as someone that is apart of a dictatorship thats not what i am about at all

lets see what everyone's opinion is as i have said if someone better suited to the job as president or
if we need 1 overall president then i will gladly step aside

my intentions are always for the benefit of the leagues success
that is all i care about

I have just received a message from Steve

Due to The general consensus is that Steve is not wanted on the forums or in any capacity for the league
& more abuse than he can handle he feels he can no longer continue and has stepped down

I also think that i am totally the wrong man for the presidents role and this job should be opened up for
discussion i dont want to let anyone down i will continue if the majority want me to continue

I think things are moving a long fine. Paul you doing a good job. Responding to queries is what we need. People giving there opinions helps get the league moving forward. One league president is not a good idea in my opinion. We really need a back up if something goes wrong. You just need to look back at the last few seasons to see that this is the case. A group of people running things is better in the long run

People should be realistic and expect some disagreements. That's life.

What's not good is name calling etc. But these things should be behind us now.

The important thing is to get the league up and running and move forward. Things are happening which is more than can be said of a week ago

I agree mate i am happy to continue but think it should be put up for discussion

Also now Steve has withdrawn there is alot that needs sorting out

holy smoke what has just happen..i left for a 10 min cigerette break and read all this bickering going on..come on people we just want the league to start and have fun thats all..for the past 6 months i would visit the online league section and be disapointed that nobody even hardly post it has become a damn ghost town,but when steve came back on board we get new topics and posts everyday i cannot even keep up sometimes and it felt really good because i get to try my donkeys horses finally and also making new friends with people that love the game as me..so that is why i asked steve if he can come back to the forums and loved his ideas he was also going to bring newsletters in the league..so dont blame steve, paul etc.. If you guys want someone to blame just blame me because i begged to come back because the way it was it was just nothing going on the league was like dead in the water so just blame me and let steve,paul,leon,etc. get on with the league business so we can have fun..so5 is just an escape for me from reality from this shit life i got now but please guys we just really want to race our horses against other peoples horses instead of the cpu horses..so cant we just stop all this bickering pls..

Paul you should continue. Unfortunately Steve has a history of quiting which has meant some of the older players have directed abuse his way. Quiting is not a good thing moving forward. I am here for the long haul. So lets move forward

What you need to look at is getting a handicapper for at least the first 2 weeks. Have a look at the schedule Dave has used in the new Tom. If the flat can stick as closely to this as possible it would speed up the start of the league.

What needs to be clarified is the distance spreads and handicapping rules.

Though I don't want to argue, I have to disagree with that point. Steve has started a lot of initiatives and been involved a lot and quit nearly all of them, yes. But only because of the name calling and unnecessary nastiness which seems to be constantly directed his way from some of the 'older' players. Some of whom I think have stated they won't even take part in it this time around.

I would like to help with the league and I think I speak for a number of people when I say that I am sick of the attitude thrown around by some of the players. Please can we just get this season going, or decide that the league is dead and there is no point in resurrecting it. Arguing, bickering and name calling has never gotten us anywhere and it has just pushed out a valuable member who was willing to put a lot of time in to just get it going again, even just for the short term. It is childish and stupid, I hope you're proud of yourselves. (Not directed at anybody personally, but the league has had quite a turbulent history of these things erupting and it is about time it stopped)

I will just reiterate. That the league WILL HAPPEN.

Paul will do a good job on the flat. The new Tom is progressing. We just need volunteers to fill the final roles.

We are looking at the end of March start date. So get your stables ready
