jesus christ has EPW gone already? id be willing to do a bit of handicapping if no one else will pj.

I know EPW had a plan in mind and had it all worked out, but obviously he wasnt happy with making any changes so it would have made more sense to say from the start he would be president and would be calling all the shots, instead of going out of his way to say he didnt want to be overall president?

I dont see anything on here that should cause someone to leave so maybe he is not right for the job, bit too erratic. Need someone who is consistent, willing to make decisions but will listen to what people have to say before making them. Rich done a good job at that and I think the majority were quite happy with what he eventually came up with, the schedule and the rules.

In what way is the schedule rubbish? What would you like to see more of?

Reducing stable size should help spread winners between more stables at all levels.

As for Steve being open to ideas its clear to see he wasn't. He dismissed the distance rule from three separate people and I was told that ANYTHING I put forward would NOT be considered.

What about maiden handicaps Grayham? And more low grade handicaps?

Joe you keep saying things I agree with. Please stop.

I'd be happy for Joe to do some handicapping and supercat the stewarding.

The schedule can be tweaked if need be. Maybe a few additional races. Its a not hard to add say 4 or 5 races a meeting. But to do a new schedule from scratch is going to be tedious work for someone. The NH one is taking ages. As I've had to populate everything from scratch even though I have last seasons schedule

I think Supercat also mentioned helping steve with the handicapping

so if she is happy to do it maybe we could have the Doc Hay Supercat handicap team

Sorry if I was a bit brunt I wasn't going to have a flat stable in the league at the beginning anyway but saw what steve was going to do and thought I put a team together for low end handicaps for lowly rated horses I don't breed for the flat I always breed for the jumps my flat horses I had in the last two seasons weren't good and people breed for the flat which I don't like someone said earlier jump breeding aint so time consuming.

I will look at the schedule (Flat ) and then decide weither to have a go last season I couldn't even win a handicap on the flat and I have done trialing and my times are a long way behind PJ's and he thinks his isn't the best around

Matt it would be good to have Maiden Handicaps more maidens further in the season I am well in favour of and suggested this last season plus last season we had no Handicappers which didn't help the lower end of the league trainers like me who where getting slaughtered by well handicapped horses who were a lot better than Handicappers.

A Handicapper is a must for me. 8)

Depending on the number of trainers who enter the league it could be a time consuming job to handicap every runner, EPW I think was planning to have a set rating for maiden winners and take it from there, I would rather judge each maiden individually, including making adjustments depending on how the form works out in the second week, and rate accordingly. It will take stupid time but I think its worth doing to create as realistic a system as possible and after the hard work is done in the first two weeks, it would take care of itself with simple guidelines and the updating could be shared among a few people.

I am willing to put the shift in to produce the ratings but someone else will have to put them into TOM. I would list every trainer and their horses alphabetically with the ratings which should make it as painless as possible for whoever is putting them into TOM.

I'll put the ratings into TOM if you're prepared to do the ratings. Your job wont be easy but I think you're a very good candidate for it. Sadly the kit does not rate horses accurately at all and it is essential that we do the first couple of weeks manually.

Have a think about how you will rated the listed and Group races in week 1 as well. Good work on stepping up.

Thats ok, Grayham. I think we must try to find a schedule that is good for everyone. Its never going to be perfect but if every trainer had at least one winner I think that would be a successful season. Could you please look through the current schedule. I thought there was a good level of handicaps and every week there are a few 0-70 or 0-80. But thats why it is good to get everyone's opinion and then try to work forward from there.

In week12 there was the idea for championship races for tier2 horses. This could be implemented with the G1 handicaps? We already have the Melbourne Cup and Doncaster h'cap.

Sorted, if everyone is happy with that.

I think the new schedule was designed thinking that horses will not run every week. So if you have to wait a few weeks for a handicap then thats how it was designed. If anyone knows of some real lower grade handicaps that could be used then please put them forward.

As for adding races to the schedule that would be a job for whoever is designing and managing TOM. 25 races might be too many but thats not something we will know until we see how many trainers we have.
