Post Re: Rate SO5
I'd give the flat part of the game 4/5 and the NH side 1/5. I bought SO5 mainly for the NH game and its very poor. Horses preferred distances are only at the mile and half mile, no quarters, too many horses don't settle, the schedule doesn't have any non feature races over 2m1f other than NH flat, there are far too many NH flat as well. The handicapping isn't right, I've had horses win a conditions race on their 1st run and get a 50 or 60 rating when the beaten horses get rated a lot higher. Jockey feedback often doesn't match the race I've watched.

But you can work out a horses preferred distance after a few runs? The horse settling thing should just be ignored imo. There are novice hurdles and novice chases over 2m1f? Handicapping I'll give you it is awful.

'Could have settled better' is to be ignored, always has been. I don't get the handicapping, but it does give you a chance to run a bit of a coup in the big handicaps.

The distances need to be interpreted for yourself, I think they're loads better in SO5 than the previous game. You can actually have a horse have a career over 2m.

Champion Hurdle is 2m 110 yards or half a furlong.

2m1 races quoted are feature races. There are no "normal" races over that distance other than NH flat.

If the features/feedback/distance guide don't actually mean anything why bother having them.

And that PJ is why it got 4 out of 5 from me. It isn't perfect, but it isn't a '3' game either, it may not be a '4'' and is probably a 7 out of 10. There isn't anything else like it on the market. Sure some things don't work as we'd like, but, for the price and the hours and hours of enjoyment from what is there it is great. It could be greater and no doubt will be given time.
