i can tell you that in my extensive trials at all distances
my 3yo are well behind 5yos and cant compete with them even with olders carrying weight pens
i only have 4 or 5 3yo

i have dumped my epsom classic 3yo's they well behind and gone with older 1m4 horse
have added another 1m6 3yo filly who can be decent at 1m4

I don't understand this at all. For myself all I can say is my 3 year olds run better than the 4/5 year old versions. Partly why I don't run any horses past 3 and I guess I don't have the time to play as much as some so have to specialize in an age group.

i am totally the opposite my best 3yos cant get near my best 5yos they are different horses
eg. not same 3yos and 5yos have you actually done extensive trials with your best batch of older horses against your very best 3yo in 3yo
up trials cos 5yo dominate mine big time

i know 1 things for sure i want older horses for handicaps cos 3yo dont get weight for age in them so i would rather a fully mature 5yo

right now i my planning is around handicaps ok if my horses are group quality all the better if not plan A

Not any time recently. I've probably bred some 16 generations of horses. I haven't looked at 5 year olds since about the 6th generation. I used to run them through to 5 but in 90% of cases the 3 year olds simply trumped the 5 year olds. The extra weight just makes the 4/5 year old versions non competitive IMO at least for my horses anyway.

What happens when you run a group 1 race and your 5 year olds are carrying 9st 6 instead of 9st which your 3 year olds are carrying? Do they still beat the 3 year olds? And what kind of times are they running then? It's a little hard to put your times in perspective for me as you're running them in different conditions all the time (or have I picked this up wrong?).

I thought every trainer found their older horses to be better than they 3yo's.

The thing with weight for age is that our 3yo's wont improve as the season goes on as irl. It does mean that we need some 3yo only races for handicaps.

only trial in g1s mate

what i mean by weight in 5yo up they carry 9st and in 3yo up they carry 9st9 and still beat the 3yo easy

There are a few big handicaps irl that are 3yo only. We should put these in

Something about my game then if I'm the only one who finds the 3 year old version better than the 5 year old. I wonder why. Looking forward to the 3+ races. If I take a tanking there then I guess I'll be reevaluating my breeding strategy going forwards.

What kind of times do your 5 year olds run at 5f when you race them in a 3+ race as opposed to 5+? Cause the 5+ times are impressive and I haven't seen anyone else post anything close to them and if that's how fast it's going to be for handicaps then a lot of folk are playing their cards very close to their chest.

We have more now. There are some in anyway but I've added more at each distance. Not loads of races at 10f

The schedule needs updating and then posting on the forum for people to look at. We might be able to do one more edit, but its doubtful. We will also need some race names for the lower band stuff.

very few have come forward with ck times its a shame cos chasing scatters & thunders standard times
as a newbee helped me massively gave me a great idea were i was i appreciated scatters & thunder for that they did not have to do that

i am really the only one who has come forward with all my best ck times at every distance and i am not hiding or holding back anything
just following in Johns & thundersparks footsteps helping others especially newbies

they race about tenth of a sec off the 5yo only times mate in sprints

It's more about not getting egg on my face

I mean I've never even run in the league. This is a brand new version of the game. Plus the appear to be things in my game that don't seem to fit what everyone else is reporting. For all I know there might be something I'm doing in testing that's non standard and when the league starts the studs turn out to be donkeys!

If they do well in the league and assuming I'm close to the top then my times might be worth posting. Till then I'd rather not stick my head above the parapets.

I think I see what you are talking about AKHC, run 2yo races as open or 2/3, they carry the same weight but the times are half a second faster, strange.
