Post Race Results - TOM - Testing Update
Hi all

Leon and I have been working on the processing of the race results. There is still a lot of detailed stuff to sort but the basic results are now available for NHC.

Unfortunately - and it was my own mistake - one element of the upload process was wrong and this impacted on the processing of the results - the results for each horse in the extract from the CK couldn't be mapped to the race nomination/entry in TOM. I fixed this manually for all starters in the NHC and have processed the results - the processing the results takes a minute or two, the other bits takes hours :)

http://sopl.info/tom11/view-results.php?week=1&r=13

Note you will need to change the league to NHC.

You can see the results in TOM - from the drop down menu, click on View Results (I know, who would have thought!). The results are very barebones but I will add the post race comments and ratings before and after later tonight.

There were other issues with 2 NHC races - race 1 and race 3. Race 1 has not been processed while race 3 has been processed.

The next step is to update form and other meta data and use this to populate the other pages. I will also add some additional links to the results page so you can quickly view a horse's history or check out a trainer's roster.

There is still a fair bit of fine tuning to be done but the bones will definitely be ready for the end of the month.

As I thought, would be interesting if someone could provide a public facing link with race results from the UK - there may be some things that are subtely different.

For example, in Oztrzealand, we have the convention of showing the barrier in brackets immediately after the horses name eg 1. Black Sardine (2). That would translate as horse 1, barrier 2. I'm mindful that there are different perspectives and terminlogies so need to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Perfect

As it turns out, I don't think we are that far off.

I'll try and replicate something like this:

Just to confirm, barriers for flat races but not NH flat - no barriers for NHC? By way of contract, almost all races use starting gates in OZ/NZ including jumps.

Yep :)

Funny sad but true story involving a database. NZ and OZ races have a maximum of 24 per race (have you not seen the Melbourne Cup or a Group One Handicap ;)).

So the NZ TAB database has been structured to only allow a maximum of 24 runners ... which of course means they can't take tote bets on the Grand National normally! Mind you, it is an old system and at that time, we didn't get live coverage. There was live coverage of Cheltenham last week for those who couldn't sleep.

We have the odd flag start in NZ. Tape is used for standing starts for harness altho mobile starts are much more preferable.

How's that looking now?

The next stage is to get the updated form, etc and populate that in TOM.

Looks good. Curious if it will be possible to click a horses name and see its previous form?

Just making sure I'm clear . You''ll be able to click a horse name from a results page and see it's form?

Thanks for your work on setting everything up.

Yes. Working on that at present.

You will be able to click on a horse's name and see its entire detailed race history. Form will be updated after every week so when you view a stable in week 5, all horses form will be updated to the end of week 4.

There will ultimately be reports showing horses in order in terms of ratings, career earnings etc etc

My horse Beastly Boy did not run in the first race it was replaced by a horse called This Is It although it ran under my name and colours.

Yep, we are aware of that issue. It is a CK issue, not a TOM one. This is why the race hasn't been processed.
