Auto runs days to skip most people Skip the first year I always skip 7 years but you need to get used to the game first just skip a year.

That way you will soon grasp the basics of the game.

On race day the race your horse is due to run in the jockey will appear left top corner preferred jockey tactics click the preferred box tactics will appear.

I have a couple of suggestions... Either trial and error; press ALL of the buttons on ALL of the screens and see what happens. This is how I learned to play the game. OR read the instruction manual that came with the game, this has almost everything you'll need to know to get started. OR turn on tutorial tips on the start-up page of the game.
People are happy to answer questions, but sometimes you just need to experiment a bit. Also if you're a new player then the first ever game you start-up isn't going to be your most successful, so why not experiment with entering in ALL the races, taking them out, racing them using ALL the tactics, etc etc. Then you can open another and be able to be more successful.
