Out and about this am with no access to PC at office. I get the feeling the donkeys ran well this week. Can't wait to get back to office at lunch to find out how well but the cleaning up sounds promising!

The game has me perplexed. I won a group 1 with a 10/12f horse over a mile. I uploaded no milers because mine are not that good or so I thought.

Nevertheless I have won my first group 1 of the season and its over a mile. Not sure how good the field was but a group 1 win obtained is brilliant no matter how the horse won the race

All About Eve ran well for a hold up /14f horse at Epsom finishing 3rd and will be aimed at the St Ledger now

Post Re: UKRA Trainer Talk Reaction & Banter
Finally got a chance to see the races. Congrats to all the winners/placers especially to those who won their first races (and Paul for 1st G1. Well done hope the next one isn't 3 years away !)

2 year olds - always hit and miss given the race settings.

Nice to see Lassair get her first win. Thought she might have gone too quick at the end with Tricked Ya coming up really fast but just about had enough. Burijas never really got going and quickly faded. Aganju did get going though and (like Lassair) got passed just before the 1f marker but found another gear to take the win.

3 year olds.

Chantilly - Taran was ridden better (!) and Arani really ran well for the first time in the league. Both ran nigh perfect races and by that I mean the times were right up there with what I see in my own trials in similar going and numbers of horses though the first split for me is usually down at 24s rather than the 27ish. Given that slower first splits = more variability it was nice to see both clocking near fastest times.

Irish Guineas - Mayin ran a nice second at Curragh and was really pleased to see Joe win this one given how the other races fell for me this week. It was always going to be a tall ask for Bob Dylan to do the 2k Guineas double (only 7 have done it in real life though 3 in the last 12 years) and given that the race last week was off pace. Had a bad run and isn't as bad as his last place finish! Atoja was my wild card for the 1k Guineas but it kinda backfired. Matt really should have had this one in the bag and and if his jockey had gone just that little quicker sooner he would have had it. His horses do really well at Curragh (beats all of mine consistently at Curragh) and I was expecting him to win one if not both the races. Given the race, Joe was unlucky to miss out on a double here. Crucifix was pretty impressive running outside all race and had she been running inside I think would have taken this but it's all ifs and buts!

Epsom - Tatosi and Yima ran well and not much more to say other than the double was nice to do. Looking forward to the King George where I assume Amordab will be running!

I took a gamble of sorts in entering the 7/8f horses in the sprints this week seeing as the 5/6f horses would have had weight penalties. In the end it paid off. Really happy to see Aebhel win the 6f Rock and Roll Sprint. Have to say when I saw her running over a length back on Geece Beast at 1f out that I thought she'd blown it but showed a nice turn of foot to take Pauls horse just before the end. Made a mistake entering Hatasa in the 5f Temple Stakes as she already had a win and I was trying to get another horse a maiden win. A second win for her but all 5 7/8f horses are definitely being replaced after week 5.

So for the week - 11 races entered.

8 wins (4 G1s, 1 G2 and 1 G3) - current win rate 27/46 (59%)
1 second and 2 out of the money.

I can live with that I think!

Some other stats (seeing as I'm a bean counter) for the 3 year olds

5/6f - 8/11 races won
7/8f - 2/11(!) races won
9-16f - 12/16 races won

I think it's safe to say I got the 7/8f horses wrong completely and the question is come the change in week 5 if these results improve.

As for 3yr olds vs older horses - 9/12 races won. Vindicates my belief that 3 year olds are the way to go as the extra weight proves too much for older horses (IMO).

I'm looking forward to running in some of those 2m races as I'm uploading a 2m horse come the break.

The field wasn't that bad given Matt's horse came second. Perhaps it's time to consider running some of your trials with pacemakers as I suspect you'd have discovered your 10/12f horse actually could run at 8f quite nicely !

Decent runs by Daraheen Mephisto 3rd and Top Bay 4th in the two 1m2 G1 races..
I am doing much better on the jumps side which gave me two winners this week, but hoping for an ascot win next week at any race..

Going to assume this lack of banter is because everyone is breeding horses to swap in after the week 5 races !

Was just looking through the races and one that caught my eye was Master Grand coming in second behind Feat Ping in the Yeats Was King. Nothing special as Feat Ping is my heavy favorite to go through the season unbeaten except that Master Grand is a GAMEbred horse. If you'd told me that stallion would have come ahead of every homebred bar Matt's I'd have chuckled and offered you handsome odds. So take a bow Master Grand :).

Got my first Group 1 winner courtesy of Zarlema but didnt really enjoy it because I was genuinely gutted a few minutes later when I seen how badly my horses ran in the Oaks and the Derby, Bonduba ran over 2 seconds slower than he can and Celebrate ran over a second slower. Well done to Andy, Tatosi and Yima are machines and the best horses have won both races. Celebrate has ran a 1/10 race here but you only get one shot at it, would have been over the moon if she had ran her race and finished second. Bonduba hasnt produced in the league, he should be a certainty in a handicap off 105 then he wont run again, capable of hitting 2.29.5 at Epsom but inconsistent, wasnt surprised by his run but still disappointed as I know he is better than that. I never even considered that Celebrate would run anything but a stormer, ran the race 15 times and she was out of the 2 once, won it 7 times, yet the one that counts she isnt even in the 3, incredible, unlikely she will run again.

Crucifix ran a blinder in 1000, if she was drawn inside she might have won, Starolema ran a cracker, no excuses in second.

At least I wont be disappointed again the rest of the season as there was only two races I was really interested in and both mine have run inexplicably badly.

Well done to PJ with the Group 1 and all the other winners and placers.

Oak Crystal Currency got a terrible ride, going to have a nice mark in the Ebor.

Shockingly awful week for me on the flat too. Apart from Oak Crystal Lodge, they were all given appalling rides. Honduran Crystal was outpaced and the jockey did nothing, Crystal Currency was allowed to drop right out the back and the jockey did nothing, Suffolk Crystal got going too late, the jockey did nothing and Charlie Wolf was caught wide which the jockey couldn't do anything about, but pretty much summed up my week in the league. Frustrating doesn't even cover it!

Feel for you big man. But them's the breaks with the horses. There's always next time and I'm sure you'll come back stronger.

And hopefully one that's running from the front? I have half a mind to leave my team as is as my milers really need the pace and with everyone running race handy instructions, why there's the pace I need!

Entries for week 5. May change if track conditions are unexpected (i.e. not close to good). Not sure if Domnu/Gerra will run the King's Stand. Domnu slight favorite at present but I flip on this one quite a bit.

Last chance saloon for Teliko and Atoja to break through for maiden victory as both are headed for retirement shortly.

Yima in for the G2 Ribbesdale Stakes with a weight handicap (6lbs!) so I have no idea what to expect. Ruhanga getting the nod over Tatosi as he won't have a weight penalty. Suleviae running for the first time since her maiden victory in a 2m race and I'm hoping she does well though my 2 miler (Anyigba - Ascot in 3:36:1 at 2m) is being transferred in when the window opens next week.

After this week, I suspect next week is always going to be a letdown :).
