 Whats the most you've paid?
For a horse be it in the auction or during the season?
I very often pay between £1m and £1.5m for unraced 2yo's but rarely seen £2m horses go under the hammer....however couple of seasons ago i got pushed up to £3.2m to capture a five time winning 2yo game horse who had solid Gp1 winning form...
First season for me was largely disappointing winning only a poor Gp3 event...however this season he's started off with a Gp2 victory so im hopeful of a better set of results now hes into his 4yo year

I don't mean you've paid too much I mean Ive spent too much on horses that would struggle to win a midwinter claiming race on the poly let alone justify their price.

It's not what I spent but someone bought my 2yo for 3 million after she won her maiden and then the champagne stakes

Re: Whats the most you've paid?
It's alright I thought maybe as I posted it might be easily misunderstood. I still go to the 2yo auction every year and buy 2 or 3 expensive ones. The best I've had is a dewhurst winner and a multiple group 1 winning filly miler.

Re: Whats the most you've paid?
When buying at the 2yo auction i tend to look more at the breeding than the purchase prices and will not by anything that states Avg Best Dist more than 1m6f....i tend to only purchase out of a group1 winner too leaving all the others alone.
To be honest though i rarely get decent gamebred 2yos at the auctions although in past two seasons ive picked up some group winners even a 2000/1000gns winner and an Oaks Filly.

Re: Whats the most you've paid?
I never buy at the 2 y/o auction, total waste of time in my eyes.
I just breed lots of horses and monitor the weekly auctions as this is where the real talent is.
