Post Breeding the Next Generation - Taran x Yima
Finally got down to breeding this combination. Probably two of the best horses I have in the league and I've never bred them together. The datestamp for the Taran ttf.dat is 18/11/2012 and for Yima the 28/3/2013. I've probably bred Taran but I have to admit I thought I'd lost the ttf.dat file for Yima. The file on my home PC showed 0 bytes and was corrupted somehow. Luckily I recently found a copy of Yima's ttf.dat on my work PC (and actually may well have bred her during a lunch break) but have been busy with life and not really had much time to breed any new horses.

Here's the first horse from the pairing. Well if I'm been honest I discarded the first 5 I bred at the start of the 2 year old season as not being good enough (all on grounds that I couldn't achieve max potential).

What do folk think of her? Personally I think she looks a combination of Taran and Yima. Has the small build of Yima but the preference for softer ground Taran has.

I have to say I was surprised to see how much stamina both Taran and Yima had. I can understand how Taran gets 10f in the league and CK but for Yima I am surprised that she doesn't run better over 1m6f. I'll update this at the end of the Titua's career (usually midway through 3 year old season) and post the CK times she gets.

At the end of the 2 year old season

Stamina is already way up there just like Yima and I would expect Titua's best CK times to be 1m4f+.

I wouldn't say conveyor belt Paul :P. It's like your girlfriends.. you don't show off the ugly ones.

This is the point I exported. Ran as well as I would expect against the gamebred in that they were blown away. Now to test in CK :D.. the anticipation (doubtless to be followed by the letdown)!

Not too shabby. But not that much different from Yima and TBH I picked the ones where Titua won :D. Slightly better I'd say but Yima can definitely still win a fair few against her daughter.

Not sure why those splits are so fast but for Epsom with the same pacemakers the 2nd split is much slower.

Would prefer to keep these pacemakers as they are actually also potentially part of the team.

Here's the same race on Ascot with slower pacemakers.

There isn't much difference once you get to a certain pace IMO.

Some serious horses you have andy

The cut off times for my 1m4 horses at Epsom is 2.29.7 for colts and .8 for fillies so every horse in my trials can run those time at least, best I see from the colts is .5 and for fillies .6 so I shouldnt be a million miles away from Andys in theory, round Epsom at least. Still scratching my head as to why the horses I ran in the Oaks and Derby ran so slowly. Every single 1m4 horse I have is bred to race handy so in the trials its a case of who gets the best trip round the inside wins and its hard to really work out who the best is. Only thing I can think of is maybe the horses who do best in a field full of handy horses are not best suited to the league where there is usually only 2 or 3 at most who go from the front.

I think I need to either find a good hold up stallion to breed into the line to get some even pace horses or cut my trials down to 3 or 4 horses which would take much longer.

Ya Andy has a serious head start for next season i am putting all my eggs in one basket trying to get near his 1m4f times
i am now regularly breaking 230 the odd ones go 229.7 or 8

1m4f is a great distance to start at for this reason

1m4f x 6f = 1 mile offspring
1m4f x 1 mile = 1m2f offspring
1m4f x 2 miles = 1m6f offspring
1m4f 2m4f = 2 miles offspring
so with 1 distance you can breed 5 - 8 differing distances
once you have the quality at a mile 4

looks like a september start for season 2 of so5 so there is time to catch up
well if Andy stops breeding NOW

How many of your trials at Epsom have a horse that leads from start to finish? Put it another way, although all of them are race handy, how many of them are winning from coming from slightly behind the leader. That may give you some pointers as to why having the only race handy horse in a race may not be a good idea Joe. Of course I could be wrong in my thinking about race handy horses.

And your ingame time at Epsom on hard reflects that :).

As to serious head start, I know I've only bred 50 or so horses since Jan of this year so there's already been plenty of time to catch up. Next season will only be so much harder and I expect any of the trainers in the top 10 this season can make that leap to challenging for the top spot. Most of the top trainers I think are only a bit of breeding away from catching up IMO.
