Re: 1st 9 home in the Derby
Were the jockeys given team tactics or did you leave it up to them? I have only just won the race for the first time, in season nine, but it was with by far my least fancied entry of five

Re: 1st 9 home in the Derby
Presumably none had won much going into the race as I would have expected higher ratings?

Re: 1st 9 home in the Derby
2:25:50 as in the world record thread. If I recall the first of my horses that broke 2:30 in CK ran somewhere around 2:26:3-4 ingame on hard going at Epsom which is roughly where you are. Joe has cracked 2:26 flat ingame with his horses running 2:29:5ish in CK. I mostly see 2:29:4ish in CK with the odd run down at 2:29:2-3.
TBH though I breed based on Ascot times not Epsom and at the moment my cut off for breeding is 2:32:4 for 12f horses. I haven't really done much breeding at distances outside of 8-10f. Not surprisingly these are the distances in the league where I think I need to improve most. Yes I know Taran/Arani have done well but I get the feeling that's where the chasing pack are closest. And 8f has been a right muddle with no one horse really dominating though Zarlema has won two G1s at 8f this season.

I have no doubt you'll be challenging for all those G1s next season and look forward to running against them!

Re: 1st 9 home in the Derby
Looks like we could be in for an interesting Derby next year, everyone seems to be getting the times down but to get from 2.29.5 to 2.29.2 to challenge Andy is going to be very difficult. I think Andy could could be going 2.29.0 by the time next season comes round.
Ive started playing again the last few days for the first time in ages and I found a horse from my 1m2 game who runs 2.29.5 at Epsom, he is a son of my mile filly Crucifix so bringing in a new line and the early signs from breeding are good. I got a colt from his first crop who beats him in the CK but still only runs 2.29.5, going to breed him with all my 1m4 mares.

Re: 1st 9 home in the Derby
I don't think that the gap is as large as you make it sound Joe. The bottom line is times in CK are somewhat dictated by the pace of the race and I would be surprised if anyone else is running pacemakers that cover the first 6 furlongs as fast as mine do. This does make achieving 2:29:2-4 somewhat easier. However using slightly slower pacemakers the times I see are more like 2:29:4-5 with much fewer times down at 2:29:2-3. I also don't think 2:29 flat is achievable consistently (having had a few shots at it!). I think we're it's splitting hairs here and the RNG probably has a greater effect on the race than the small differences in times posted. I would say I've been lucky in the league to win as many of the G1s at 12f and that if we ran a set of 10 that I would probably just win a slight majority of them against horses that are clocking 2:29:5 such as you and Steve have. I'm sure Steve, Paul, you and others will have closed the gap by quite a bit come the next season.
