Well at least you've found a good foundation stallion. I wouldn't worry about the ave best distance of 1m3f. His offspring will get anywhere from 1m2-1m4 with ease depending on what you breed him to.

Why not try both? Breed him to existing mares and also to new game horses. I suspect you'll find that your existing horses will give you better times but if you breed him to another gamebred mare and that time matches what you get breeding him to your existing mares then I hope you've backed up the gamebred mare prior to breeding as that's one mare you'll want to breed to again and again.

Was just starting new games looking for new sires and settled on this horse - Woodlark. He's ulta game in the stretch which I like.

When this showed up in the auction. Woodlarks prize money made it possible to buy Flare. Should be a good one. Will see in time.

Just picked this one up at the sales. Never seen an 8 year old with a full potential bar still.

Shame about the distance adaptability but the rest are good- constitution, consistency and going adaptability

I've always wondered about the old horses you'll see that are still competing at the highest levels. I always retire at the end of the 5yo season so I never train geezers. You think this 8yo reached full potential at 5 and has stayed there since? Did he just reach full at 8? Maybe he reached full early and diminished only to reach full again - if that happens?

Actually I was only two years into the game. The horse started as a 7 year old and I bought it at sales just because he had won 10 of 16 G1s and I was wondering how his stats looked.

beautiful horses guys..my two year olds come out 85 to 90 percent potential but when they get 5 their potential is maxed out.just started breeding a few days ago the problem is all my horses are early pace which race off the front and hardly get beaten but I dont think that type of horse is good for league..what is your advice? I was really happy getting max potential horses too even my fillies and mares get max potential when they are 5 problem is they are all early pace..

Yup that's a beauty :). The question is does it run as well as it looks!

Hope you come back to playing more and have a string for next season :). We need more trainers in the league!

Nice stats Jamie ya hope you come back next season the lge misses u

the problem i have it does not matter which gamebred i breed with they are producing alot slower offspring in ck compared to
the homebreds
even GB horses that clock up 30 - 50 g1 wins are not helping my lines

holding back a quick ck stallion is the only way that i am finding better an quicker

i usually ignore my 2nd quickest and most consistent and keep to breed with the next batch

this way they are all unrelated

i did find an excellent gamebred called dixieland he won 44 g1 over 1m4f he is the only 1 to produce anything to get within a length
or 2 in ck

If I was in your situation I'd be looking to introduce a game-bred that has won plenty of gp1's but checking it's running style, I'd be looking for 'restrained early' or in that type of mould to even out the early pace trait.

I'm currently in the opposite mould whereby all my horses are held up, and its proving difficult to get anything as good as the hold up horses I have but its just perseverance and keeping going and eventually I'm confident I'll find that one horse that'll change things.

Basically it's trial and error.

Cheers mate. I powered down my laptop last night and opted for some sleep, so haven't even run the horse in the game yet let alone the league. Generally I can get a feel for what will be good in the CK just by looking at the stats and my knowledge of the game tells me he should be fairly good - will have to wait and see though. 8)

I've noticed in my fairly short time of playing SO5 that the breeding engine is fairly different to all previous versions, in that just because it trials well in CK doesn't mean it will breed well, and vice versa.

I find gamebreds only breed well into lines if they have a certain running style, I don't care how good they might be but I just haven't had a single good front-running gamebred breed anything of note for the CK, and a lot of it comes down to racing style. I think if you can find a horse with a good running style with some good pattern form within the game, and then breed that to your lines - even if the results don't trial all that well in the CK, it is worth sending that mare/colt to stud (if stats look good) and introduce it to some more of your gamebreds.

That is what I'm currently doing. Mofazahaat and Dick Turpin were two full potential 2yo's I got for the first time, both trial fairly poorly in the CK but for at Longchamp for some weird reason - however by introducing them into my previous lines, it has maxed out the potential of the horses I already had, but their ability was passed on into the new offspring along with the potential, thus resulting in better horses.
