After stating I was not going to delve into this right now I spotted a possible cause while tweaking SO6 AI and race code today that may well cause certain hold up horses to be disadvantaged. The slower the pace of a race (especially league races) the more pronounced this effect is. It does not disadvantage all hold up horses but is related to the race pace and the field location of each horse combined. I'm not sure exactly how much difference the fix will make but it's probably worth implementing for SO5 as it's a simple fix.
It is not an issue with the horse models themselves so updating the league kit build is all that is required. If after a few days all is well then a patch for the main game will follow.
Mark.
