Post League Breeding Freaks
Now that my breeding in So5 is over I was looking at what horses helped my breeding and I was wondering if anyone had any freak horse like this one.

Image

This horse had great Burst and speed rating but was awful on the racecourse and in CK, ran a slow 3.09.00 at Ascot and the same time at the St'Ledger distance. I only bred from him because of his attributes and he was the Sire of 4 group 1 winners and a group 2 winner in the last league season and was also a group 1 winning hurdler Lady Cricket who has turned out to be a outstanding Mare, considering I only bred a few horses from him he was my most important horse. A complete freak.

Has anyone had a horse that was slow on the track but breed some superstars.

It's only now looking back that I saw this horse right through my breeding lines and yet I think I only used him about twenty odd times. I think I messed up because he was breed very early on in my operation. He was one of the slowest horses I ever bred and his mum was also very slow. I wondered if we missed a trick by just breeding the fastest horses in CK.

I found his ttf file and I had a look at it and he won one of his three races and was rated 96 in game, no superstar. I have no idea why he only ran three times ( must have been useless).

My jump horses were easy to get good battling qualities but it was harder on my flat horses.

I think you are missing some really good ones by only breeding fast CK horses. None of mine are fast in the CK and Leon has said many times that his CK times don't match yours and yet I am competitive and Leon wins many races in the league.

I changed my breeding program for the jumps side of the game, it will be interesting to see how my horses get on this season. Last season my jumps breeding operation was based solely on times and though I didn't do to bad :D I've gone a completely different route this time and based my jumps program on racing my horses(I've spent more time racing my horses in ck than breeding) against each other and whoever does best gets to bred from. I've completely gone away from times and it will be interesting to see if this way can work.

Yes I don't get close to any of the posted times. Still won quite a few group 1 winners last season so for new trainers you can still win group 1's without getting close to the times posted on the forum.

I have tried breeding with horses with good stats that weren't very good, mainly on the jumps side. Mainly with a very fast jumps bar. It did work with getting faster jumpers.

The main thing is not to breed with horses that are good in the ck but with the horses that sire the horses that are good in the ck. I find this is much better yardstick. A lot of times a good ck horse will be a poor sire

I have a new approach to trialling although very time consuming I hope that I now have horses capable of running with and without pace time will tell

It's interesting that we are/all tweaking our breeding/trialling.

I totally changed my breeding of my jump horses, I started my trails today and I'm unimpressed with what I've seen so far. The 2m-2m4 chasers look rather ordinary.

I've decided to keep it simple on the flat, I will run my trails like I did last season and if I have the wrong type of horses( hold up horses) then so be it, the best will run.
