How can you say times mean absolutely nothing, that's so misleading. It gives you an idea of where your horses are for a start. There are a lot of variables but times you clock in trials tell you how good your horses are.

Paul is right, most jump league races are never run as quick as we trial them, plus there's plenty of good jump h'caps to go for. The flat is a different animal, u probably need the best of the best to compete.

As long as u horses got a full potential bar then u got a chance.

My intention was to encourage others not to write off entering the lge because there times are not close
to the ones on the forum You no full well i have always tried to help and encourage new entrants into the lge i certainly would never intentionally mislead anyone.

Do Times really mean much look at last season my milers clocked the quickest times that were ever posted on the forum

How many races did they win 2 or 3 how many G1s NONE

Times give you an idea of who Your own best horses are but when it comes down to it i stand by my point that
they don't mean much

Plus u got a week before the season starts so I would if I was u see where u got u best horses and do most/All of u breeding there. So if u got good hurdlers then do all u breeding there to get better or if u got good chaser do it with them.

It only takes a week to get better, that's what I did last season and I came up with all my three mile chasers.

I think when it comes to trialing a points system to find out your most consistent is
far more important than the times you clock its only my opinion

if you look over the past month several other more experienced trainers than
me have said the same thing that in the NHC times mean little but yet when i say the
same thing accusations of misleading people arise but i will leave it there

My G1 winning milers last season were much slower than the times posted on the forum. And so was my oaks winner who was actually a 1m6 horse running over 1m4. I have never gone under 2.30 at Epsom.

Note : I don't trial with pacemakers which could be the reason my times are much slower

For NH times are not important at all

I no longer trial with pacemakers too have not done so since the transfer window in season 2
Your Point above about your Oaks winner will encourage others to enter Leon

On another note my oaks winner did not have a full potential bar at 3. It was about 85%. The horse at a full potential bar at 5 but at 3 her stats were not at an optimum level.

In fact I rarely get a horse with a full potential bar at 3. SO it is possible to win a group 1 with a horse without a full potential bar

Will need to pull a rabbit out of the hat to get anywhere near that this season or a miracle of all miracles.

As I've always said times only matter to u horses to work out u horses ultimate ability, never get caught up in what other people are doing. Most times races are not run to suit u horses so we never get to see what they can do. Instead of looking at people's times study how races are run in the league.

This is my brake down to a good league horse.

60% Ability
30% Positioning ( never over look this one)
10% Trialling

I've got a two year old called Dayjur( by the mighty Warrior Queen) who was the last horse I bred for my flat team and who has 60 % ability but has very little position skills about 5 to 10%, I only put him in because he was the first decent horse warrior queen bred( and I've tried hundreds of times). It will be interesting to see how he gets on.

I'm the complete opposite, mine are juiced early on and fall of a cliff quickly. Even my jumpers are the same, greenbank park at 6 is a superstar by seven a complete donkey. Paul put up 2m chaser races yesterday and they were all six year olds, mine are on blackpool beach by then.

The good thing about this game was that unlike most games where there's one way to do things there are lots of different ways to get to the top. I think we all done things slightly different.

i have even stopped exporting & trialing 5yo because the 6yo's dominate them it is rare that a 5yo would even
get into top 10 in any of my trial finals

so permitations is my quickest ever 2 mile chaser

but so far he has only scored 12 pts in total in 15 trial finals and only got 5 top 5 finishes 0 wins
Leader has 45 pts 10 top 5 finishes 6 wins she is called Monreal

If you are time orientated you would probably pick permitations for the lge squad

make that 7 wins nice time too talk about timing

Paul im breeding two milers chasers today so i will see if my 6 year olds are still donkeys.

How do u decide if only one makes it but u got two with the same ability, all my horses are real life horses so whoever was my fav in real gets in.

Just bred some two milers and my 5 year olds are still much better, good i don't need to change any thing
